Android Vs iOS
Android and iOS are the two major operating systems (OS) that run on smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices such as smart watches. iOS is owned by Apple Company and was released in the year 2007, while Android was released a year later by Google.
The following is the comparison between the two operating systems;
Android and iOS Hardware Devices
Apple manufactures iOS as well as its devices which includes: iPhone, iPad, and iPod. This makes the iOS user-friendly due to the easy integration between the hardware and software. On the other hand, Google’s Android devices are manufactured by multiple companies such as Samsung, LG, Techno, HTC, and Huawei. Android's devices come with different features. Therefore, the integration between the hardware and the OS may be a bit complicated but on the other hand you as the user have an advantage as you can choose depending on the features you desire.
Application Features
It is easy to install applications on both iOS and Android. Select from the app store or iTunes from the iOS search for the application that you want, go to INSTALL and there you have it. In Android, you search the app on Google play or play store after you have signed in your Google account. Android allows third-party application from its users, unlike iOS. Multitasking is available on both platforms whereby one application is active while the others run in the background.
Security and social media integration
As mentioned above, iOS is safe from malware and viruses as it does not allow the third-party application. Android can be easily affected by malware and viruses. However, in both the OS, devices come with various security features such as pattern and password input when you’re unlocking. iOS has deeper integration with social media platforms, therefore, making it easy to post and upload photos on Facebook and on Twitter as compared to Android devices.
System upgrade
Both the OS have been upgrading their software since they were introduced into the market, by adding more and interesting features. iOS users upgrade to the newer version automatically. The users are always notified and provided with the current version.
Data transfer and Connectivity
With Android, it’s easy to transfer files to multiple devices using the Android file transfer app, while in iOS it’s more difficult to use iTunes desktop application to send media files. Both the platforms have Bluetooth and USB port that are used to transfer photos and videos. Wireless network (WiFi) is also available for connecting wirelessly to the Internet.
From the above comparison, it's not easy to tell which of the OS is superior to the other. However, you can now decide on which one to go for depending on the qualities and features that interest you. And, of course price is also another key factor you must consider. Most of the Android’s devices are way more cheaper as compared to iOS devices.
