Amazon HoneyCode

Amazon has rolled out a low code application builder named Amazon HoneyCode. I registered and took a quick look at how HoneyCode builds solutions. It is a Beta release so it is important that these features will evolve quickly.

My first impression is that the user interface is very intuitive and easy to understand. There are wizards for creating applications that are smooth to use and effective. I was able to create an application in three minutes.

It manages data through tables that appear as spreadsheets in the system. This will make it easier for a non IT user to understand how to create simple applications.

The designer is easy to use and implement changes.

Adding automation is where processes can be setup. The interface is easy to use but the automation options are limited.

Overall, I think that HoneyCode has some catching up to do with the existing low code products, especially in enterprise grade features, but it is an impressive start. The usability and wizards will make creating low code applications much more approachable for non IT users.

Thanks for reading.

Amazon has a long way to go in comparison to Microsoft Power Apps but I like what I'm seeing. Thanks for sharing your screen shots! I was not aware this Amazon capability existed until I read your article.
