After #100DaysOfCode
I can't believe I made it. I fulfilled my commitment to learning & coding every single day and 100 days in a series. Even though I was a bit sloppy after I accepted a job offer on Day 80, I'm glad I was able to stick to the end.
Before I found a job, I frequently coded more than 12 hours a day because I knew I was not good enough and I needed to get better. After finding a job, it was harder to balance between job/family/personal growth. I really respected those people who decided to switch careers and learn coding after their FT work. (Especially for those who had kids.) It was not easy.
I grew a lot during these 100 days. I built some very nice projects, I reviewed all the js fundamentals to prepare for interviews, I volunteered to host online meetings to share my knowledge about coding, and I met some very knowledgeable and supportive people who are also my role models now.
The job search was hard, and #100DaysOfCode helped me achieve my goal. During this challenge, I set goals for myself. I have 3 targets every day, including solving Leetcode problems, working on projects, and job hunt. By documenting all my achievements every day, I knew that I was stepping forward slowly but continuously and consistently.
I also thank the PWJ community a lot for cheering me up while the times were hard. When people said they were inspired by me or they learned something from what I shared, I got motivated to keep doing it. Also, the Twitter community and many Twitter robots are very helpful too. When I twitted with the hashtag #100DaysOfCode, there would be about 5 robots reshared my twit. What's beneficial was that I could also see other people working on this challenge when I followed those robots. Seeing so many people also trying so hard encouraged me a lot. I knew I'm not alone. They made me believe that completing this challenge was possible. I even saw someone just started her 7th round of #100DaysOfCode today!
Now I'm taking a break and preparing for my 2 round. I expect myself keep growing even after getting a job. I love learning and the feeling of keep growing. I'll have to come up with a new plan to balance work, life, and family. Due to my current priority in my life is applying permanent resident in Canada, I might also start #100DaysOfLanguage #100DaysOfEnglish.
I'm grateful to learn this challenge in the first place. So now, I'm sharing my experiences with my community and hopefully, people who are in a similar situation like me before can take this challenge and benefit from it as well!
