“THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH”

“THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH”

We live in a world that includes different aspects of the truth. You take four people witnessing an event and you will get four different points of view. Not that one or more might not be telling the truth, they may just observe something a little differently. The Gospels are a great example of this. They are all four truth, yet different details are brought to our attention (that is a lesson for another time with much more space).

Because the Bible has so much information, many people look for shortcuts and may decide that the Word contains contradictions, therefore, we may pick and choose what we want to believe and teach. This is very dangerous territory to be in. Because the Bible is so full of information I can easily pull verses out of context and make them say whatever I I want them to say. Friends, we must understand that it what really matters is what God meant when He inspired men to write these words.

Yes, the Bible is full of absolute truth. Every word in the Bible is true and comes directly from God, who cannot lie. The Bible does employ literary tools such as hyperbole in order to make a point. When Jesus says to cut off your hand if it causes you to sin, He is not saying to literally cut off your hand, but to separate yourself from that which causes you to sin by taking the most extreme measures if needed.

Many have chosen to change the plan of salvation for one reason or another and teach something that does not even appear in the Bible in order to appease man.

God gave all authority to Jesus and He told His disciples to go into all the world and teach what He taught. That is a pretty simple instruction. The problem is that man decides that some of what Jesus taught is to difficult or they just don’t want to do it, so they change it in order to ease their own conscience so that they still feel a sense of salvation.

Jesus makes it very clear that there is only one path to heaven and that is through Him. The Bible only teaches one way to heaven so any other way will not lead us to heaven. It is like this, since we just moved into a new area, we depend on GPS and Siri a lot to get us where we are going. Sometimes here directions don’t make sense to me, however, if I follow them she gets me where I need to be. If we want to get to heaven we must follow the directions given to us by God and not those made by man and given for the world to follow. There are no shortcuts to heaven.

The Bible reminds us that it is the inspired word of God which makes it the absolute truth. Yes, there are some of what we may consider gray areas and even Peter said that Paul wrote some things that were hard to understand, however, that does not take away from the fact that the Bible is absolute truth or we might say, the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!
