8 Basic SEO tips for wordpress beginners

8 Basic SEO tips for wordpress beginners

1. Delivering High-Quality Written Content

Content is the king, Google not only crawls the content for indexing but also checks the bounce back rate for your site. If your content is not engaging or to the point, you will lose the rank pretty quickly.

2. Set your Permalinks

Permalinks are URL structure. WordPress accompanies default permalink settings to enable you to transform them according to your benefit and needs. These settings can be found in settings - > permalinks. Change it to post title.

3. Use SEO Plugins

Hundreds of SEO plugins are available on WordPress. Easy to integrate and easy to use. Plugins such as Yoast SEO, SEO press, SEO Framework etc.

They are the best in their work. I would recommend Yoast SEO because they have a very customized and easy interface and trusted by many WP developers.

4. Make a sitemap for your site

You can make a sitemap using any XML sitemap generator or Yoast. Submit your sitemap to google webmaster tools. DO keep a tab on broken links and links with errors on webmaster tool. Submit your sitemap frequently if you have a blog or any other dynamic site.

5. Use Google Analytics

Use google analytics to see the trends and visitor graphs on your website. It shows everything from the bounce rate, the time spent by a visitor on a particular page, the sex demographics, time at which the post gets better eyeballs etc.

Try to change your posting and sharing pattern according to the analytics and keep the tab on the visitors.

6. Advance your media

Just like permalink, I always recommend that a media file should have the same or similar name as the post. This helps in image SEO. Always use Alt tag, Description tag, etc for the image.

7. Make your substance Shareable

Let people share your articles. Give the share option. Initially, you should share the link to major social media. If your article is really worth sharing, people will share it on WhatsApp or Facebook. Give them sharing options. Wordpress has many free and premium sharing plugins.

8. Utilizing Links and Anchor Text Correctly

Take internal linking very seriously. Internal linking helps to keep the reader on your website. If your current is having any connection between any previously written article, add the link.

Add "also read" in between and at the end of your articles with links to the previous posts. This helps to reduce the bounce rate and make your internal linking strong

Being a beginner, this is helpful for me. Thank you.
