The 7 wrong approaches to work
Some thoughts and approaches which seem casual at first, soon become a part of attitude, and eventually a reason of being generally disliked. They promote negative thoughts, dissatisfaction, under-performance and finally a miserable workplace.
Here are the 7 most common thoughts I have observed in the teams and organizations I have worked with, and would like to share, so we can all check and improve ourselves. After all, who doesn’t like to be liked!!
1 I will do all this by myself
if something involves teamwork, it must be done by the team. Doing everything by yourself will lower the confidence of your co-workers. People don’t share and delegate, either in the desire to get noticed, or out of mistrust, or in the fear of missing deadlines.
2 This cannot be done
As soon as you decide that something is impossible, it will never ever be possible. Optimism and enthusiasm are more important than qualification.
3 My idea is the best
No matter how good you feel about your idea, you must take opinions, thereby benefitting the organization and opening your mind to new horizons.
4 I will save my face first
Lot of bosses shrug responsibility and blame their juniors. The result – juniors follow suit.
5 I got lots of personal problems
Its not a good habit to link your bad performance at work with your difficult personal life. The decision to work is yours, so do it well
6 I don’t need your advice
believing that you are a know-it-all becomes a big obstacle in progress. Listening and discussing are difficult to practice but very important for you and your team.
7 We’ll do this later
you procrastinate something which needs time & effort, and you will be surprised at the stupid mistakes you make. If you got lots of things in hand, prioritize but do not delay and forget. Keeping a timetable handy is also a good idea.
