5 Cloud Trends To Be Aware Of

In a relatively short period of time, cloud technology has become a key disruptor of the digital age. Since its inception, it has experienced unprecedented growth and has revolutionised the way IT delivers services. Cloud technology has also changed the way users access applications, business services and information.

Cloud technology has already undergone change and will no doubt continue to adapt in order to meet future demands. But, what do we have in store for the cloud? We take a look at 5 of the predicted cloud trends.

Security will be an even bigger worry.

When businesses initially started using the cloud, they did not risk moving sensitive data. But, now that more and more businesses are starting to regularly use the cloud, companies are starting to take more of an interest in cloud security. This is because companies understand the benefits of the cloud much more and are looking to move more sensitive data over. But, when companies start moving sensitive data to the cloud, data security will be tested and companies will become even more concerned about how secure it is.

Entry barriers will disappear.

Currently a number of barriers to entering the cloud can be found. Some governments are preventing organisations from moving services to the cloud because of certain regulations or strict compliance. But, we predict that many of these barriers will disappear. The majority of governments will become cloud friendly and the cloud will work on bringing out services that meet government regulation.

Certification and training.

In order to be considered an expert in a certain field, people expect a certain level of training and certification. At the moment in the cloud industry, there is a distinct lack of cloud experts and recognised certification. By setting up training courses and using recognised certifications, people will have more trust in those people that design, build and run clouds.

More and more training companies are beginning to focus on the cloud and we expect this to continue to step up. As soon as the industry introduces recognised certifications, we expect organisations from across the globe to put their entire IT staff through the training.

Hybrid cloud will become more mainstream.

Hybrid cloud computing will see as an option for business to take up. With more and more enterprises moving to the cloud, operations personnel and IT teams are thinking about what cloud option will work best for them. Public clouds are cost effective, but private clouds offer more security. More organisations will want the best of both worlds and will consider a hybrid cloud option instead.

More small and medium sized businesses will jump on board.

If small and medium sized businesses don’t jump on the cloud band wagon, they will fall behind their competitors and risk losing their competitive edge. Therefore, we expect lots of small and medium sized businesses to start taking advantage of cloud technology.
