Do we really need to learn multiple programming languages?

Employee: Hey I was the best Java developer in my previous org.. I have made a lot of robust services and rock solid architectures. How can you ask me to work in the front end with designer’s languages?

Manager: I know you capabilities and the powerful hand you have to provide one of the best backend processes but this current project required you to play a role of full stack developer.

Hmm…A new trend has started. This conversation is quite common nowadays. As our expectation for salary part taking continue steps in the ladder of new findings and the same expectation companies are putting on the shoulder of the employee.

It’s not a matter of justification that who is right and who is not, but it’s a new collaborative demand in an IT sector.

In between that I always stuck in a question, Do we really have to bother on adding new language in our knowledge base?

Will it harm our previous learning and will deviate us from the primary skills we have?

But in a short span of my career I myself get the answer as well which may be not supported by someone but there must be people who have the same mindset which I have in this issue.

LANGUAGE IS NOTHING, IT IS CONTINUOUSLY CHANGING WHEN YOU SIFTED IN A NEW PLACE AND GRADUALLY STARTED TALKING IN A NEW LANGUAGE WITHOUT EVEN REALISING IT, RETAINING YOUR PREVIOUS ONE INTACT WITH YOU.

Similarly programming languages are much easy to switch from one to other. I realize it when as a developer and Automation Engineer I have started switching between different languages. I feel the concepts are very similar in all and only the English get changed.

I am not saying, to become a master is not a great thing but in the current situation industry expect comparison from master.

It is quite possible technology in E-Commerce needs different skills than a Finance product and also different from a Chat application.
If we know these languages then only we can compare them all to get best out of it.

May be we will not become perfect on it but we will take a step to become perfect on it.
