Building My Own Reusable Star Rating Component in React As part of my journey learning React, I decided to stop relying on external npm packages for simple UI features (For security and Reliability reasons) and instead build them from scratch. React feels fast because it usually updates only what changed. That is reconciliation. When state changes, React creates a new Virtual DOM tree, compares it with the previous one, finds the difference, and updates only the affected part of the real DOM.
