🚀 Expanding My React Skills – Built an Interactive Comment Form ⭐ I’ve been diving deeper into React fundamentals and recently built a fully functional Comment Form with a dynamic Star Rating UI. 🔹 Key concepts I practiced: -> Controlled Components using useState -> Handling multiple form inputs with a single state object -> Dynamic state updates using [event.target.name] -> Building reusable event handlers -> Implementing an interactive ⭐ star rating system -> Managing UI states with hover vs actual selected value -> Conditional rendering for real-time visual feedback -> Clean component structuring and separation of logic 💡 One interesting part was designing the rating system: Instead of a simple input, I implemented clickable stars where: -> Hover shows a live preview -> Click locks the rating -> UI updates instantly based on state This helped me understand how UI behavior is directly driven by state in React. 🛠 Tech Stack: React.js | JavaScript | CSS 📌 This small project strengthened my understanding of how to build interactive and user-friendly UI components, which is essential for modern web applications. Virtual DOM is a lightweight copy of the real DOM. Instead of updating the real DOM directly, React first updates the Virtual DOM. 🔹 How does it work? 1. React creates a Virtual DOM 2. When state changes → new Virtual DOM is created 3. React compares it with the previous one (diffing) 4. ✨ 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟰 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 ⚛️🚀 Today I learned about the `𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁` 𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗸, and more importantly, 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁. While working with React, I noticed that components are mainly for rendering UI. But sometimes we need to do things outside rendering — like fetching data, setting up timers, or updating something after the UI changes. That’s where `𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁` comes in. It lets us handle these 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 in a clean and controlled way. What I found interesting is how it runs after render and can depend on specific values. Instead of mixing everything together, React separates 𝗨𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰 from 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀, which makes the code easier to understand and manage. I used to copy-paste the same layout across multiple pages… and didn’t realize how much time I was wasting. Day 4 of my 30-day Next.js deep dive. Today I explored layouts and nested layouts in Next.js. It seems like a small concept—but it completely changes how you structure a real application. Instead of repeating UI, you define it once and reuse it smartly. Key Learnings - Layouts allow you to share common UI (like navbar, footer) across pages - Nested layouts help structure complex apps with different sections - Each route can have its own layout without affecting others - Keeps code DRY and easier to maintain - Makes scaling large applications much more manageable At first, I thought layouts were just about avoiding repetition. But while working through it, I realized: 👉 It’s actually about thinking in structure, not pages Instead of building isolated pages, I started thinking: “How should this app be organized as a whole?” That shift made everything feel more like real-world development. I’m learning to focus not just on building features—but on structuring applications in a clean and scalable way. Because in remote teams, readability and maintainability are just as important as functionality.
