Today, let’s make that process faster and smoother by using JavaScript the right way. 🧠 ✨ Why This Matters Even the best visuals lag if JavaScript blocks rendering. Optimizing JS ensures buttery-smooth performance — where logic and visuals work in sync. 🎨 ⚙️ 1️⃣ Avoid Main Thread Overload The main thread handles JS, layout, and painting — block it, and frames drop. ✅ Split heavy tasks using Web Workers ✅ Defer non-critical JS with defer or async ✅ Use requestIdleCallback() for background tasks ⚙️ 2️⃣ Smart Event Handling Events like scroll or resize fire dozens of times per second. Throttle or debounce them to prevent layout thrashing. window.addEventListener('scroll', throttle(updateUI, 100)); ⏱️ Throttling = limit frequency. ⏳ Debouncing = wait for pause before running. ⚙️ 3️⃣ Lazy Loading for Performance Wins Don’t load what the user can’t see. Use: <img loading="lazy" src="image.jpg" /> For JS components, dynamically import code when needed. 💡 Takeaway Performance isn’t just about speed — it’s about perception. 🎯 A Little Story About JavaScript Events While working on a UI feature recently, I was thinking about how neatly JavaScript handles user interactions — especially through event flow. Imagine this 👇 You click a button inside a card component. The click first triggers on the button... but somehow, the parent card also reacts. That’s not magic — that’s Event Bubbling in action. In bubbling, the event starts at the target element and travels up through all its ancestors until it reaches the top of the DOM. There’s also the opposite path — Event Capturing — where the event moves down from the root to the target. You can enable this phase using: element.addEventListener("click", handler, true); And sometimes, you just want that click to stay right where it happened — no parents involved. That’s when event.stopPropagation() steps in to save the day ✋ Understanding how events travel through the DOM makes handling complex interfaces so much smoother. Excited to share a small but practical front-end project: a Metric ↔ Imperial Unit Converter built with HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript. 🚀 What I built * Converts length (meters ↔ feet), volume (liters ↔ gallons) and mass (kilograms ↔ pounds). * Simple, focused UI with an input, convert button and live result cards. * Clean conversion functions, DOM manipulation and number formatting for readable output. 👨💻 Tech & learnings Tech: HTML, CSS, plain JS — no framework required. Learned: Clear separation of conversion logic from UI code, handling numeric input, and producing consistent decimal precision for display (toFixed / Math.round). Outcome: a compact utility that demonstrates DOM APIs, modular functions and attention to UX. ⏩ You know that moment when everything finally clicks after hours of troubleshooting? Yeah, that was me this week 😅 🛑 After wrestling a bit with shadcn/ui setup (my new favorite Tailwind CSS component library), it finally paved the way — clean components, flexible design, and just the right blend of simplicity and power. 📌While I was at it, I took a detour to brush up on my TailwindCSS and some good ol’ CSS fundamentals — it paid off big time. Now users can log in directly through the frontend, and their data is securely stored in the database. I also implemented React Hooks for cleaner state management and even decoded the JWT token using an npm package to personalize the dashboard with each user’s name 👏 💫Up next: crafting a sleek Dashboard UI that brings it all together. 🎮 Developing the Classic Pac-Man Game Using HTML, CSS and JavaScript I recently developed a browser-based Pac-Man game using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, as part of my ongoing exploration of front-end development and interactive web applications. The objective was to replicate the mechanics of the original arcade game — controlling Pac-Man through a maze, collecting pellets, and avoiding ghosts — entirely through core web technologies, without external libraries or frameworks. Project Overview 💠 Grid and Layout Design: The game board was dynamically generated using JavaScript, with each grid cell representing walls, pellets, or open paths. CSS Grid and Flexbox were used to define structure, alignment, and responsive design. 💠 Movement and Controls: Pac-Man’s movement was implemented using keyboard event listeners combined with collision detection logic to ensure valid navigation and smooth transitions. 💠 Ghost AI and Game Logic: Ghosts follow basic AI patterns, alternating between random and chase movements, controlled through interval-based logic. Real-time score tracking and power-up effects were managed via DOM manipulation. 💠 State Management: Game states such as active play, victory, and game over were handled through conditional logic and event-driven updates for seamless user interaction.
