Most React developers write code that works. Few write code that *lasts*. After building 50+ React projects, here are the patterns that separate good developers from great ones: **1. Stop overusing useEffect** Most side effects don't belong there. If you're syncing state with props using useEffect, you're creating bugs before they happen. Derive state directly instead. **2. Colocate your state** State that only one component uses should live in that component — not in a global store. Lifting state too high is one of the biggest performance killers I see in codebases. **3. Memoize intentionally, not defensively** Wrapping everything in useMemo and useCallback isn't optimization — it's noise. Profile first. Optimize what actually hurts. **4. Build for readability, not cleverness** Your future self (and your team) will thank you. A component that's easy to understand is easier to maintain, debug, and scale. **5. Treat your custom hooks like APIs** Clear inputs, predictable outputs, single responsibility. If your hook is doing three things, it should probably be three hooks. React isn't hard. Writing *maintainable* React is where most developers plateau. Most developers stop when things get uncomfortable. They pick one framework… get used to it… and stay there. I chose a different path 👇 When I started my JavaScript journey, I had *no idea* about frameworks like Frappe, React.js, Next.js, or Ext JS. No roadmap. No clarity. Just curiosity. But instead of sticking to one thing, I kept moving even when it felt difficult. → Learned Frappe and understood structured full-stack development → Moved to React.js and shifted to component-based thinking → Explored Next.js and discovered performance + scalability → Now diving into Ext JS, adapting to enterprise-level architecture Here’s what I realized: ⚡ Growth doesn’t happen when you stay comfortable ⚡ Every new framework feels like starting from zero ⚡ But that “starting again” builds something powerful adaptability While many stop at “this is enough,” I kept going… and built the ability to learn *anything*. 💡 For newcomers: • Don’t limit yourself to one tool forever • It’s okay to not know things that’s how you grow • Focus on learning how to learn • Adaptability > knowing a single framework Because in tech, frameworks will change. But your ability to adapt will stay. 🚀 I started with zero knowledge. Today, I’m confident I can pick up any new technology. That’s the real skill. My React learning journey has officially begun… and it’s been an exciting shift so far 🚀 Starting with the basics, I explored useState — simple, yet powerful. Then came useReducer, which really changed how I think about managing complex state. As I went deeper, breaking UI into smaller reusable pieces (component-based approach) started to feel very natural. What made this journey even more interesting is how I kept relating everything back to Angular: - Angular → Two-way data binding - React → One-way data flow (lifting state via props) - Angular → Everything structured out of the box - React → You build and decide the structure yourself This shift from “framework-driven” to “developer-driven” thinking has been both challenging and refreshing. Every small concept in React feels like a new perspective on how frontend architecture can be designed. Still learning, still exploring… but really enjoying the process. It formats the code on every file save automatically, after configuring it. ✅ Organize code in better folder and file structure: Better organization of files for apis, services etc helps to quickly find and update the required information without wasting time. ✅ Use React Developer Tools for Debugging: Install the React Developer Tools extension in your browser to inspect component hierarchies, props, and state directly, making debugging much easier. ✅ Keep Components Small and Focused: Break your UI into small, reusable components that each handle a single responsibility.
