𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬, 𝐈 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐮𝐩. So I decided to try out my first intermediate project: 𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐱𝐲 ⚙️ The idea was simple: to build a CLI tool that forwards requests to another server, caches the responses, and serves the cached version when the same request is made again. When it displays 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒, it means the address is being accessed for the first time, while 𝗛𝗜𝗧 indicates the response is being returned from the cache. In short, it helps reduce the time needed to load a webpage or retrieve data, kind of like giving the server a short-term memory 🧠 Building it was surprisingly enjoyable. It felt like every project I’d done before was a stepping stone to this one. Not only did it refresh what I had already learned, but it also helped me dive deeper into concepts like: ⚡ How caching works and why it’s important for performance 🌐 How proxy servers forward and handle HTTP requests 🗄️ How to manage and clear cached data This project reminded me that 𝒇𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒚 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓, they’re the foundation that makes tackling harder problems easier later on. 🚀 Developed a full-stack web app for secure file uploads using React, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and AWS S3 Over the past few days, I worked on a complete end-to-end full-stack project that integrates modern web technologies, cloud services, and production-level deployment concepts. Here’s what I built 👇 🧩 Tech Stack 🎨 Frontend: React + Tailwind CSS ⚙️ Backend: FastAPI (Python) 🗄️ Database: PostgreSQL (AWS RDS) ☁️ Storage: AWS S3 (Presigned uploads) 🌐 Deployment: EC2 + NGINX + a background Linux service for automatic startup and reliability ⚡ Features ✅ Secure user signup/login with JWT authentication ✅ Password hashing and duplicate email validation ✅ Auth-protected APIs for user info and uploads ✅ Direct file uploads from the browser to S3 using presigned URLs (no backend file storage) ✅ Clean, minimal React dashboard with login, logout, and upload flow ✅ Fully deployed and tested on AWS infrastructure 🧠 What I Learned ·       Designing a secure authentication system using JWT in FastAPI ·       How presigned S3 URLs enable secure, direct file uploads without exposing AWS credentials ·       Configuring NGINX to serve React and proxy API requests to FastAPI ·       Running backend processes as persistent services on Linux for uptime and auto-restarts ·       Managing CORS, AWS permissions, and environment variables in production environments It was a great experience connecting frontend, backend, and cloud infrastructure into a single production system. #FastAPI #React #AWS #FullStackDevelopment #Python #PostgreSQL #S3 #WebDevelopment #CloudComputing

🚀 From localhost to Live! Full-Stack MERN Project Deployed. Delivered a fully deployed MERN (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js) application. Key Components & Pipeline: 🌐 Frontend: React (CI/CD via Vercel) 🛠️ Backend: Node.js/Express REST API (CI/CD via Render) 🗄️ Database: MongoDB Atlas 📡 API Validation: Postman 📦 Version Control: Git & GitHub Key Deployment Challenges Solved: CORS (Cross-Origin) Error: Issue: Vercel-hosted frontend was blocked from accessing the Render-hosted backend. Resolution: Configured the Express cors middleware to securely whitelist the specific frontend origin, re-establishing the API connection. MongoParseError on Deployment: Issue: Backend server failed to start on Render. Resolution: Debugged the deployment environment. Traced the error to an invalid connection string format and resolved it by correcting the ATLAS_URI .environment variable. A solid exercise in full-stack CI/CD and distributed system debugging. How a Missing Slash in NGINX Almost Broke Our API (and How We Fixed It) Yesterday, I was setting up a fresh VPS for our new feedback platform. Everything worked perfectly on my local machine. /api/v1/auth/login→ 200 OK But as soon as I deployed to production, I hit this: {"path": "/v1/auth/login", "error": "Cannot POST /v1/auth/login"} 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁, /𝗮𝗽𝗶 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱. I trying to find the cause:  • Checked NestJS controllers  • Reviewed CORS headers  • Restarted PM2  • Double-checked environment variables  • Nothing looked wrong.  • Then I opened my NGINX config... and there it was. location /api/ {  proxy_pass http://localhost:9000; # ← no trailing slash! } That tiny missing slash was the culprit. When NGINX doesn’t have a trailing /, it replaces the matched part of the URL with nothing. Here’s what happens:  • You request → /api/v1/auth/login  • NGINX matches /api/  • Because the proxy URL (http://localhost:9000) has no slash  • NGINX replaces the matched part (/api/) with nothing.  • Resulting upstream request → /v1/auth/login  • So your backend receives a path without /api The One-Line Fix location ^~ /api/ {  proxy_pass http://localhost:9000/; # add trailing slash }  • Request → /api/v1/auth/login  • NGINX matches /api/  • Because of the trailing /, NGINX appends the remaining part after the /api/ to the target URL.  • Resulting upstream request → /api/v1/auth/login  • And just like that — 200 OK again. Problem solved. Five hours of confusion gone in seconds.
