Here is a quick refresher on Error Boundaries and the production-level tip you need to ace this question. 🧠 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭 Since React 16, a single unhandled error in a component during rendering will unmount the entire component tree—resulting in the dreaded blank white screen. Error Boundaries act like a massive catch {} block for your UI. If a localized component (like a product review widget) crashes, the boundary catches it, prevents the rest of the page from unmounting, and displays a graceful fallback UI instead. 📌 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐓𝐢𝐩 Interviewers love asking how to build one in modern, functional React. The catch? You can't. Native React still requires a Class Component using componentDidCatch or static getDerivedStateFromError to build a boundary from scratch. There are no hook equivalents yet. 💻 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 If you want to show senior-level thinking, explain that while you can write a custom class wrapper, the industry standard for production apps is using Brian Vaughn’s react-error-boundary library. Why? It gives you two massive advantages: 1. 𝘾𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙁𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙒𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨: You get a <ErrorBoundary> component that accepts a simple fallback UI and an onReset function to easily clear caches and let the user "try again." 2. 𝘾𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚: Native error boundaries cannot catch errors inside async API calls or event handlers (like an onClick). The library provides a useErrorBoundary hook that allows you to manually push async errors into the boundary, triggering your fallback UI perfectly. 🚀 Compose & Pipe in JavaScript — Small Concepts, Big Impact After ~3 years of working in frontend, one pattern that quietly improved my code quality is function composition — specifically compose and pipe. At first, it feels “functional-programming heavy”… But once you use it in real projects, it just clicks. 🔹 What problem does it solve? Instead of writing nested or step-by-step transformations: const result = format(trim(toLowerCase(input))); You can make it more readable and scalable. 🔹 Compose (Right → Left) const compose = (...fns) => (value) => fns.reduceRight((acc, fn) => fn(acc), value); const result = compose(format, trim, toLowerCase)(input); 👉 Execution: toLowerCase → trim → format 🔹 Pipe (Left → Right) const pipe = (...fns) => (value) => fns.reduce((acc, fn) => fn(acc), value); const result = pipe(toLowerCase, trim, format)(input); 👉 Execution: toLowerCase → trim → format 💡 Key Difference compose → reads inside-out pipe → reads top-down (more intuitive) 🔥 Where I used this in real projects: ✔️ Transforming API responses before rendering ✔️ Cleaning & validating form inputs ✔️ Building reusable utility pipelines ✔️ Keeping React components clean (logic separated) ⚡ Why recruiters care? Question: Why should we NOT use index as key in React lists? 🤔 Example 👇 const items = ["A", "B", "C"]; items.map((item, index) => ( Looks fine… right? ❌ Now imagine removing "A" from the list 👇 ["B", "C"] React will reuse DOM elements incorrectly because index changes. Result? ⚠️ Wrong UI updates ⚠️ State mismatch ⚠️ Unexpected bugs Correct way ✅ items.map((item) => ( Why? React uses "key" to track elements during reconciliation (Virtual DOM diffing). If keys are unstable (like index), React cannot correctly identify elements. Tip for Interview ⚠️ Key should be: ✔ Unique ✔ Stable ✔ Predictable Good developers write lists. One of the most critical concepts in JavaScript — and a topic that every serious developer must understand to master async behavior. Many developers know how to use setTimeout, Promises, or fetch, but far fewer understand how JavaScript actually executes asynchronous code under the hood. In this post, I’ve broken down the complete JavaScript Asynchronous Execution Model, including the role of the Call Stack, Web APIs, Event Loop, and task queues. Covered in this slide set: 1. Why JavaScript is single-threaded and what that actually means 2. How the Call Stack executes synchronous code line by line 3. How asynchronous tasks are offloaded to Browser Web APIs 4.
