In this implementation, I’ve used Next.js Route Handlers on the backend and a custom-built, responsive form on the frontend. Key Features of this implementation: Full Type Safety: Using TypeScript interfaces for both frontend and backend data handling. Modern API Routes: Leveraging Next.js POST handlers instead of legacy API routes. Nodemailer Integration: Seamless email delivery using Gmail SMTP. 🤯 Why React State Doesn’t Update Immediately If you’ve ever written this 👇 setCount(count + 1); console.log(count); // ❌ old value …and felt confused — you’re not alone. This is expected behavior in React. 📌 Why does this happen? Why setState(prev => …) Exists (And When You MUST Use It) ⚛️ Ever written this and expected +2? setCount(count + 1); setCount(count + 1); But React gave you +1 😵💫 React isn’t broken. Your mental model is. What’s actually happening 👇 Remember this rule: Each render sees its own snapshot of state 📸 In that render: count has one fixed value Both updates read from the same snapshot So React sees: setCount(0 + 1); setCount(0 + 1); ➡️ Result: 1, not 2 Why the functional updater exists 🧠 Now look at this: setCount(prev => prev + 1); setCount(prev => prev + 1); This time, React does this internally: First update → prev = 0 → 1 Second update → prev = 1 → 2 Why? ⚖️ Functional vs Class Components in React.js React officially promotes functional components today. But here’s the honest truth 👇 🟢 Functional Components: ✔ Simpler syntax ✔ Hooks-based logic ✔ Better readability 🔵 Class Components: ✔ Still supported ✔ Can use error boundaries (componentDidCatch) ✔ Legacy enterprise codebases ⚠️ Important limitation: Error Boundaries cannot be created using functional components directly. That’s the only major task class components can still do better today. However, React provides workarounds using wrappers.
