🚀 React Native Gets the New API — Smarter UI + Better Performance React 19.2 just introduced a powerful new feature in React Native: the <Activity> component, and it’s a game changer for UI visibility, performance, and navigation flow. 🔴 What is <Activity>? lets you split your UI into separate “activities” that React can: Show Hide Pause Resume ...without losing state. It supports two modes: 🔵 visible UI is shown Effects are mounted Updates run normally 🔵 hidden UI disappears Effects unmount Work is paused/deferred State is preserved Yes — if you hide a tab/screen with <Activity mode="hidden"> and return later, your search results, scroll position, filters, and selections all stay intact. 💡 Why is Better Than Conditional Rendering When you hide something using {condition && <Component /> }, React fully unmounts it. React Native just got faster, here’s why. For a long time, React Native performance issues were less about JavaScript and more about how the system bridged JS and native code. The new architecture fixes that at the foundation. Fabric is the new rendering system. It gives React Native a more predictable and synchronous way to update the UI. Layout and rendering are better coordinated, which reduces dropped frames and makes animations feel more responsive, especially in complex screens. TurboModules replace the old native module system. Instead of loading everything at startup, native modules are initialized only when they are actually needed. This cuts startup time and reduces memory overhead, which is noticeable in real production apps, not just demos. The biggest gain is consistency. The new architecture aligns React Native more closely with how React itself works. State updates propagate more cleanly, UI and logic stay in sync, and performance becomes easier to reason about instead of something you tune endlessly. The result is not just speed. It is stability.
