Anthropic just accidentally open-sourced their entire Claude Code CLI (~512k lines, 1900+ files) via a forgotten source map in npm. Anthropic just leaked the entire source code of Claude Code through a .map file in their npm package. No hack. No breach. A build config mistake. Someone forgot to exclude source maps from the publish and Bun generates them by default... vibe coding? 512,000 lines of TypeScript. 1,900 files. Feature flags, unreleased tools, system prompts, internal model codenames. Everything. The irony is they built a whole internal system called "Undercover Mode" to prevent their AI from revealing internal information in public commits and then they shipped the entire codebase in a single file. If you publish anything to npm, three things you should be doing today. Run npm pack --dry-run before every publish to see exactly what goes into the tarball. Use the files field in package.json as a whitelist instead of npmignore. And explicitly disable source maps in your production bundler config because most tools generate them by default. This happened the same day the Axios package was compromised with a RAT (Remote Access Trojan). Two massive npm incidents in one day. Your build pipeline is a security boundary.
