#A Small Framework I Built a Long Time Ago Some time ago, out of curiosity more than necessity, we built a small JavaScript framework. Not to compete with React or Vue. Not to create the “next big thing”. Just to really understand how modern frontend frameworks work under the hood. That project became mini-framework-z01. It’s a lightweight framework built with plain JavaScript and focused on fundamentals: Virtual DOM abstraction Simple reactive state with subscriptions Client-side routing for SPAs A small event system Component-based structure One intentional choice was keeping things simple. When state changes, the virtual tree is re-rendered and the framework handles DOM replacement efficiently. No complex magic, just clear logic. I don’t actively maintain it today, but it represents an important step in my learning journey. So, you wanna build a fast and secure front-end - it's a must. Understanding how scripts load and execute in the browser is key. It's all about the basics: scripts can either block or not block HTML parsing - that's the main difference. Now, let's dive deeper - when you're working with classic scripts, they can block HTML parsing, which can slow things down. On the other hand, async scripts download in parallel and execute as soon as they're ready, which is pretty cool. But, defer scripts take it a step further - they download in parallel and execute after the HTML is fully parsed, making them a great option. And then there's ES Modules - they're the way to go for modern apps, trust me. Use type="module" for application code, it's the best default. But, if modules aren't an option, defer is the way to go for classic scripts. And for independent third-party scripts, async is the way to go. It's all about timing - event timing, caching, and security are crucial. You gotta mind those things to build a fast and secure front-end. From Console to Chrome: Bringing Logic to Life! 🚀💻 I was recently practicing to master JavaScript fundamentals. What started as a simple script to practice logic building and function structures evolved into something much bigger. Instead of just looking at conversion results in my terminal, I decided to build a full web application to see my code in action! What went into this build: Logic Building: I architected a multi-unit system using if/else statements to handle bi-directional conversions between Miles, KM, and Feet. DOM Manipulation: I bridged the gap between code and user by using document.getElementById and innerText to turn raw data into a dynamic UI. Error Resilience: I implemented isNaN checks to ensure the app handles empty inputs gracefully. Design Thinking: I stepped out of the script and into the browser, using CSS gradients and flexbox to create a modern, user-friendly interface. Tools used: Vanilla JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3. This project reminded me that programming isn't just about solving problems in the console—it's about creating tools that provide a great user experience.
