🔧 I've stopped learning new frameworks. And I think it's made me a better engineer. For most of my career, staying current meant chasing the ecosystem. New state manager every two years. New build tool. New CSS approach. New framework promising to fix what the last one broke. I have React, Vue, Next, Redux, Zustand, MUI, Tailwind, Styled-components on my CV — and a decent chunk of my twenties spent absorbing each of them. ⚙️ At some point in the last year, I quietly stopped. Not out of burnout, and not because the churn slowed down. Because the AI in my editor knows the syntax better than I do. It remembers the Solid primitive I'd have to look up. It writes the Zustand boilerplate I'd grumble through. The cost of "not knowing the latest framework" dropped close to zero. 🌱 What I noticed is that the attention I used to spend on syntax didn't disappear — it moved. I think harder about data flow now. About where state actually belongs. About whether a feature is worth building at all. About the difference between a fast solution and a correct one. 🎯 The skills that compounded weren't framework-specific. They were the ones underneath: how to model a domain, how to read a codebase, how to know when something is overengineered. But there’s a shift I’ve been noticing… Many new developers are jumping straight into frameworks and AI-assisted coding—without learning the fundamentals first. They can build fast. Ship quickly. Even impress clients. But when things break, scale, or get complex… the cracks start to show. Because without understanding core concepts, you’re not truly coding—you’re depending. So the real question is: Are we growing as developers… or slowly losing the essence of coding? AI isn’t here to replace thinking or do everything for you. It’s a copilot—not the main driver. The real advantage today is simple: 👉 Strong fundamentals + AI = real 10x developer What’s your take on this?

“Great developers don’t write long functions; they write composable, reusable, and predictable ones.” In JavaScript, the difference between average and exceptional code isn’t about how much you write; it’s about how well your pieces fit together. AI works best when you are extremely clear. AI rewards clarity. Example (Clarity) - Same ask; but CLEAR -> Write a JS function -> Write a pure JS function that takes an (user input) and returns (desired result) after applying (necessary logic) With AI, you can literally generate entire functions, modules. But here’s the hard truth. Knowledge is no longer just about writing code. It’s about understanding code. Because: • If you don’t understand what AI generated; you can’t debug it. • If you can’t debug it; you can’t own it. • If you can’t own it; it is of no use. Copy-paste coding might give you speed today; but it will cost you growth tomorrow.
