The best investment I made in my career wasn't a course or a certification. It was becoming someone who actively learns from others. After 9 years as a Java Full Stack Developer, here's what I know about growth: The developers who grew fastest on my teams: - Asked questions without fear - Read code reviews as learning opportunities, not criticism - Shared knowledge generously (blog posts, internal wikis, talks) - Had a "learning hour" blocked on their calendar - Built in public - even when the code wasn't perfect The developers who stagnated: - Only learned what was needed for the current ticket - Never looked at the codebase outside their module - Thought experience = seniority (it doesn't) - Waited for the company to send them on training Tech changes fast. Java, Spring Boot, React, Azure - the specifics matter less than your ability to learn.
