It ensures: ✔ Data Hiding ✔ Controlled Access ✔ Secure Object State ✔ Better Maintainability In real backend development: Entities, DTOs, and Services rely on encapsulation. Spring Boot uses getters/setters for data binding and validation internally. Method Overriding in Java - where polymorphism actually shows its power Method overriding happens when a subclass provides its own implementation of a method that already exists in the parent class. For overriding to work in Java: • The method name must be the same • The parameters must be the same • The return type must be the same (or covariant) The key idea is simple: The method that runs is decided at runtime, not compile time. This is why method overriding is called runtime polymorphism. Why does this matter? Because it allows subclasses to modify or extend the behavior of a parent class without changing the original code. Which m1() should Java execute? This is the Diamond Problem — a classic multiple inheritance issue. 🔍 Why Java avoids this: Java does NOT support multiple inheritance with classes to prevent: ✔ Method ambiguity ✔ Tight coupling ✔ Unexpected behavior ✔ Complex dependency chains Instead, Java provides: ✅ Interfaces ✅ Default methods (with explicit override rules) ✅ Clear method resolution This design choice keeps Java applications more predictable and maintainable — especially in large-scale backend systems. Starting Java from scratch — and it already feels different. Today marks Day 01 of my journey towards becoming a Backend Engineer. I started with the basics of Java, but even the fundamentals gave a clear idea of how structured and powerful this language is. Here’s what I covered today: – What is Java & how it works – JVM (Java Virtual Machine), JDK, and JRE – Setting up the environment & extensions – Variables & Data Types – Typecasting (implicit & explicit) – Arithmetic & Logical Operators What stood out to me was understanding how Java is not just a language, but a complete ecosystem — especially the role of JVM in making Java platform-independent. Also, coming from C++, I could already feel the shift toward more structured and object-oriented thinking. Starting again from basics might feel slow, but I believe strong foundations are what make everything else easier later. 📍 This is part of my #BecomingABackendEngineer journey — building step by step, concept by concept. ✨DAY-23: 💡 Understanding Functional Interfaces in Java – Made Simple with Real-Life Examples! Sometimes, the best way to understand Java concepts is to connect them with real-world scenarios. This meme perfectly explains three important functional interfaces in Java: ✅ Predicate – Just like checking an ID to verify if someone is above 21. It takes input and returns true or false. ✅ Consumer – Like receiving and eating a pizza 🍕. It takes input and performs an action, but returns nothing. ✅ Supplier – Like a warehouse worker delivering new supplies. It doesn’t take input, but it supplies data when needed. Revision | Day 6 – Multithreading Today I explored the basics of Multithreading in Java and why it is important for building high-performance applications. What is Multithreading? Multithreading allows a program to execute multiple threads (smaller units of a process) simultaneously. It helps improve application performance and better CPU utilization. Thread vs Runnable There are two main ways to create threads in Java: 1. Extending Thread class class MyThread extends Thread { public void run() { System.out.println("Thread is running"); } } 2. Implementing Runnable interface (recommended) class MyRunnable implements Runnable { public void run() { System.out.println("Thread is running"); } } Runnable is preferred because Java supports single inheritance but multiple interfaces. Synchronization When multiple threads access shared resources, it may cause inconsistent results. Synchronization ensures that only one thread accesses the critical section at a time. Example: synchronized void increment() { count++; } Deadlock Deadlock occurs when two or more threads wait for each other to release resources, causing the program to freeze. Example scenario: Thread 1 → lock1 → waiting for lock2 Thread 2 → lock2 → waiting for lock1 Both threads get stuck forever.
