Starting My Next.js Journey! Today, I officially started learning Next.js, and I am really excited to dive deeper into this powerful framework built on top of React. I wanted to share what I learned in my first session - it was eye-opening! React's Problem: • In React, when we create a build, a JavaScript bundle is generated. • When a user visits a React website, this bundle loads in the browser, executes, and then generates the HTML dynamically. • This can make pages slightly slower on first load, API calls happen only after JS runs, and SEO suffers because search engines see almost empty HTML initially. How Next.js Solves This: • Next.js runs API calls and data fetching at build time. • It generates pre-rendered HTML and CSS that is deployed on the server. • When a user visits, the page loads instantly, and JS loads only for interactivity. Why This Matters: • Faster page load → better user experience. • SEO-friendly → Google bots can index content easily. • Makes building dynamic, scalable websites much more efficient. I’m super excited to explore more features like SSG, SSR, dynamic routes, and client-side hydration in the upcoming lessons. It’s amazing to see how Next.js builds on React to solve real-world problems like speed and SEO. Excited to share my latest full-stack project — Tripzy I’ve been working on Tripzy, a complete travel and accommodation booking platform that I built from scratch using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, Express, MongoDB, and EJS. The idea was to create something that feels real — a platform where users can explore listings, view images, check map locations, and even make bookings (with a dummy payment flow). 🔹Key features I implemented: • User authentication (Signup/Login/Logout) • Add, edit, and delete your own listings • Image uploads using Cloudinary • Interactive maps with Leaflet.js • Booking system with a dummy payment flow • Protected routes — only logged-in users can manage listings This project taught me a lot about building scalable backends, managing databases, and deploying full-stack apps efficiently. 🌐 Live Demo: https://lnkd.in/dZsacTwy (If the homepage shows “Page Not Found”, just click on Explore — it will load all listings and images!) 💡 React Practical Application! 💡 I recently built a small landing page — not focusing on the UI this time, but as a practical project to apply the React concepts I learned throughout a course 👩💻 Here’s what I used and why: - useEffect – to fetch data from the API when the page loads. - useContext – for managing global state instead of passing props around. - useCallback – to prevent unnecessary re-renders and improve performance. - useFormAction – to handle and control form data efficiently. - And I built a custom hook, useHttp, to manage API requests in a reusable way. I first built the API locally with JSON Server — and for the first time, I deployed the backend on Railway to make it live and connect it to the frontend demo 🚀 It was such a great learning experience! Today, I took my first dive into Zustand, a simple yet powerful state management library for React! 🧑💻 Zustand has been on my radar for a while, and I finally decided to learn it and integrate it into my personal project. Here are some key takeaways from my first day: ✳️ Minimalistic & Lightweight: Unlike more complex state management tools, Zustand is super minimal and doesn’t require boilerplate code. You can create a global store in just a few lines. ✳️ No Provider Wrapping Needed: One of the standout features is that it doesn’t require wrapping components in a Provider. You can use the store directly in your components without any extra setup. ✳️ Simple API: Zustand’s API is intuitive and easy to work with. Just create your store using create and access state through simple hooks. No complex reducers or actions — just plain JavaScript! ✳️ Reactive State: Zustand makes state updates reactive, so your components automatically re-render when the state changes. ❤️ What I liked the most? The simplicity, ease of use, and the flexibility of Zustand. It feels like a great choice for small to medium-sized applications where you don’t need a complex state management system. 💰 Why it’s worth learning? Zustand allows you to manage state without the overhead of more heavyweight solutions like Redux or Context API. It’s perfect for modern React apps looking for a clean, fast, and intuitive way to handle global state. 💡 Fun Fact: Zustand isn’t just limited to React! It’s framework-agnostic, which means you can use it with vanilla JavaScript, Node.js, or even in Chrome extensions! Unlike Redux, which is tightly coupled with React, Zustand gives you the flexibility to manage state across various environments. 🚨 React vs Next.js — everyone talks about it, but few really get the difference. Everyone keeps debating about it, but most people miss the real difference. People keep saying “Next.js is just React with some extra features.” But that’s like saying an engine and a car are the same thing. Let’s clear it up 👇 ⚛️ React.js – The Engine React is basically a frontend library to build UI components. It gives you freedom, but also a lot of responsibility. You’ve to setup: Routing (React Router) Data fetching SEO Optimization Folder structure and all React = Freedom 💪 But React also = “You have to build everything yourself.” 🚀 Next.js – The Complete Vehicle Next.js is built on top of React, but adds everything React misses by default. Some cool things it adds 👇 File-based routing (no react-router headache) SSR & SSG (Server Side Rendering / Static Generation) Built-in API routes SEO ready Image optimization Super fast & easy deployment Next.js = React + Performance + SEO + Less setup stress ⚡ 💡 So which one to use? 👉 Use React if: You’re still learning frontend You want a simple SPA You like doing custom setup 👉 Use Next.js if: You’re building production apps You care about SEO & performance You want a fast development setup 🔥 My take: I personally think everyone should start with React first — learn the basics properly, build few small SPA projects, understand routing, component structure, prop drilling, and state management (useState, Context API, Redux maybe). Once you’re comfortable with that, then move to Next.js — it’ll feel 10x easier and you’ll actually know what’s happening under the hood. ⚡ Real truth: Every Next.js app is React under the hood, but not every React app is ready for production.
