🔥 Part 4 of 10: A React component doing 5 jobs is usually a warning sign. Not because long files are automatically bad. But because once one component is fetching data transforming data handling UI state managing side effects and rendering half the page… the structure usually stopped making sense. I’ve learned that a lot of frontend cleanup is really just responsibility cleanup. What belongs here? What should move out? What’s making this harder than it needs to be? React 19 just dropped and everyone's writing about the docs. I actually shipped it in production. Here's what I noticed building a real SaaS platform with React 19 + Vite + TypeScript 👇 1. Actions changed how I handle forms forever No more useState for every input. No more manual loading/error states. Actions handle async transitions natively. I removed ~40% of boilerplate from our form logic. First time I've felt React actually solving a real problem. 2. useOptimistic made our hiring pipeline feel instant Recruiters move candidates through stages constantly. Before — wait for API → update UI. After — UI updates immediately, syncs in background. One hook. The whole app felt 10x faster. Users noticed before I even told them. 3. use() hook is quietly the most underrated addition Reading a promise directly inside render felt wrong at first. Now I can't imagine going back. Cleaner data fetching. No useEffect spaghetti. Works beautifully with Suspense. 4. ref as a prop — finally No more forwardRef boilerplate wrapping every component. Pass ref directly like any other prop. Small change. Massive quality of life improvement. Our component library got 30% cleaner overnight. 5. The compiler is coming — and I felt the difference Even without the full compiler enabled, the memoisation improvements under the hood are real. Fewer unnecessary re-renders on our dashboard. Highcharts graphs stopped flickering. No code changes on my end. React 19 isn't a revolution. It's React finally cleaning up the mess it made over the years. And honestly? 🚀 5 React Mistakes I Made as a Beginner (And How to Fix Them) When I first started building with React, I made a lot of mistakes that slowed me down and introduced bugs I couldn't explain. Here are 5 of the most common ones — and how to fix them: ❌ #1 — Not cleaning up useEffect Forget to return a cleanup function? Hello, memory leaks. ✅ Always return a cleanup for timers, event listeners, and subscriptions. ❌ #2 — Using index as a key in lists This breaks React's reconciliation and causes weird UI bugs. ✅ Always use a unique ID from your data as the key prop. ❌ #3 — Calling setState directly inside render This creates an infinite re-render loop. ✅ Keep state updates inside event handlers or useEffect only. ❌ #4 — Fetching data without handling loading and error states Your UI breaks or shows nothing while data loads. ✅ Always manage three states: loading, error, and success. ❌ #5 — Putting everything in one giant component Hard to read, hard to debug, impossible to reuse. ✅ Break your UI into small, focused, reusable components. #Vue_template_ep_2 In the previous post, I covered the template architecture. Today, I’ll focus on the dev tooling that keeps it stable and consistent. The more I work on frontend projects, the more I see tools like Vite+ (adopted recently), TypeScript, linting, formatting, and testing as part of the architecture, not just the setup. Vite makes the workflow faster and cleaner. TypeScript catches problems early. Linting and formatting keep the codebase consistent. Testing gives you confidence when the project starts growing. People talk a lot about features, UI, and performance, but not enough about the environment used to build them. In my opinion, good tooling is one of the main reasons some teams move fast without turning the project into a mess. A serious frontend project should not rely on guesswork. React keeps evolving but one thing hasn’t changed: Clean, maintainable components still matter more than trendy patterns. There’s so much noise around tools, libraries and “must-know” tricks that it’s easy to overlook simple patterns that make day to day code better. So switching gears a little from my usual reflective posts today I wanted to share something practical from my experience, 5 React patterns I keep coming back to in real projects that help reduce component bloat, improve readability, and keep code easier to scale. Inside the carousel: 1. Early returns over nested conditions 2. Custom hooks for cleaner logic 3. Object maps over condition chains 4. When not to overuse useMemo 5. Splitting UI from business logic None of these are flashy. They’re just small patterns that compound.
