This unlocks entirely new applications in high-variability environments like shipbuilding, where fixed automation has historically fallen short. This will be the actual solution to the "we need more people to go into the trades" problem, eventually. Why crawl into a nasty crawl space to fix a plumbing leak when you can send a robot? Why climb a dangerous scaffold when you can send a robot? Why send someone into a dangerously hot attic when you can send a robot? We don't need more people going into the trades: we need them to go into STEM and robotics. That is the only scalable solution to the problem.
