I built VibeCheck, a lightweight AI-powered data analysis app that lets you explore CSV or Excel files using natural language. The goal was to reduce the overhead of exploratory data analysis by translating natural language questions into executable data operations, returning insights, visualizations, and the corresponding Python code. While GPT can answer questions, VibeCheck can reason over your data, compute answers, and show actionable outputs in one workflow. Schemas aren't explicit - must be inferred from code. 2. Lineage isn't explicit either. Extracting it from code is harder, but feasible. Why I stopped searching for keywords and started searching for meaning. Traditional search engines are great at matching words — but terrible at understanding intent. If you search for “healthy high protein dinner”, a keyword-based system will look for those exact words. But what if the best match is titled “Zesty Lemon Grilled Chicken”? That gap between words and meaning is what I wanted to fix. So I built a Semantic Recipe Recommendation System as part of my Kitchen AI project — handling 1M+ recipes and focusing on nutritional intent, not just text matches. Tech Stack & Work Done: 🔹 Data Engineering • Cleaned 1M+ messy records (R-style strings, ISO 8601 durations) using Python & Pandas 🔹 NLP / Embeddings • Used sentence-transformers/all-MiniLM-L6-v2 to convert recipes into semantic vectors 🔹 Vector Search • Implemented FAISS for fast and scalable similarity search 🔹 Optimization & Deployment • Optimized for local hardware (RTX 3050) using batch processing and FP16 quantization The Result: A system that understands “high protein” as a nutritional concept, not just a keyword. I crossed another big milestone in my RAG journey today. I finally queried meaning, not keywords. Until now, I had: ✔️ Clean customer reviews ✔️ Well-sized chunks ✔️ Embeddings stored ✔️ A Cortex Search service ready But today was about using it. What I built on Day 20 A working semantic document search using Snowflake Cortex Search. How I did it → Used the Python SDK to query Cortex Search → Passed natural language questions (not filters or keywords) → Retrieved the most relevant customer reviews → Displayed results in a clean, readable interface The shift today was subtle but powerful. Instead of: “Find reviews with these words” The system now understands: “Find reviews about this idea” What I learned today • Semantic search changes how users ask questions • Retrieval quality depends on earlier steps (chunking + embeddings) • Snowflake makes meaning-based search feel production-ready • This is the moment RAG starts delivering real value With this, the pipeline now: Documents → Chunks → Embeddings → Search → Results Next step 👉 plugging search into generation. Data Silos are often built out of syntax, not just infrastructure. For more than a decade, the Pandas library has been indispensable to the data science world. But for many business stakeholders, and even some analysts, its syntax (specifically lambda functions and method chaining) acted as a "technical tax" that made code hard to read. Pandas 3.0 dropped last week and one particular change signals a seismic shift in the game. The new pd.col() syntax moves away from complex lambda evaluations to a more readable, explicit syntax. Here are three ways it matters to data-driven businesses: 1. Human-Readable AI: We are entering an era where LLMs write the bulk of our initial code. Simpler syntax means technical leaders can validate and audit code faster and have fewer "black box" logic errors hidden in complex chains. 2. Knowledge Sharing & Growth: When data pipelines are written in "Natural-Language-Adjacent" code, the barrier to entry drops. It promotes a culture where data exploration isn't restricted to a small circle of specialists but is accessible across the business. 3. Resilient Systems: In my post last week, I underscored that designing for scale means building systems that are efficient by default and resilient to human error.  This syntax update makes it easy to write clean, performant pipelines.
