Relying on AI: The Hidden Trap for Coders

You didn’t get faster at coding You got faster at asking AI Big difference AI has made coding feel smoother than ever. You get answers instantly. Bugs get fixed faster. Code gets generated in seconds. But there’s a hidden trap. It creates the illusion of progress. You feel productive because you're constantly interacting, tweaking prompts, and moving forward. But when you step back, your core understanding hasn’t improved much. You didn’t struggle with the problem. You outsourced the struggle. And that struggle is where real learning happens. AI is powerful—but if you rely on it too early, it quietly replaces thinking with prompting. Use it as a tool, not a crutch. Otherwise, you're just speeding up without actually getting better. Be honest—how often do you rely on AI before trying to solve the problem yourself? #programming #developers #codinglife #AItools #debugging #softwareengineering #learning

A good test: try explaining the solution without looking at AI. If you can’t break it down simply, chances are you didn’t really understand it, you just executed it.

Not saying “don’t use AI” Just don’t let it think for you all the time.

I think using ai has made me 1000% faster and better .

Nitya Nandini Garg, Glad you shared this, I had a similar realization with a friend recently, we noticed we were going to AI a bit too quickly. We started trying to think through the problem first and even set a rough time limit for ourselves before using it.If something that should take about an hour drags into two, it’s usually a sign the prompting needs adjusting or the model has lost context, not that we should just keep prompting. That small shift actually made a big difference in how much we understood.

The biggest question should be for everyone to think about is. What do you understand when you read or hear “Ai is powerful” if you understand nothing then you are simply repeating useless words that have no meaning. They have generated so many illusions and it always starts with words and you people always fall for it. Seriously ask yourself what do you really understand when you repeat Ai is powerful.

Going fast and slow is the key .... learn slowly execute fast .... where you need to get work done quickly use AI ... but when you need to learn use AI too clear your concept and take it slow 🤷♂️...

If you don’t read the answers, totally

If I understand the logic of my system and whole architecture then why not i won't build it faster with the help of AI
