😵💫 “Why is my setTimeout running AFTER my Promise?” This question confused me for a long time while working with JavaScript. I thought: 👉 setTimeout(0) = runs immediately 👉 Promise = async → should run later But I was WRONG. I tested this 👇 console.log("Start"); setTimeout(() => console.log("Timeout"), 0); Promise.resolve().then(() => console.log("Promise")); console.log("End"); 👉 Output shocked me: Start → End → Promise → Timeout Then I saw this diagram 👇 …and everything clicked. 💡 The truth: JavaScript doesn’t just run “async code” randomly. It follows a strict priority system: ⚡ Microtasks (Promises) → HIGH priority ⏳ Macrotasks (setTimeout) → LOW priority 🔄 What actually happens: Run all sync code → Start, End Clear Microtask Queue → Promise Then Macrotask Queue → Timeout 🔥 The moment I understood this: Debugging async code became 10x easier No more guessing execution order My React apps felt more predictable 📌 One line to remember: 👉 “Promises beat setTimeout. 💻 5 React mistakes I stopped making (and it improved my code a lot) When I started with React, I used to write code that worked… But not code that was clean, scalable, and maintainable. Here are 5 mistakes I fixed: ❌ 1. Writing everything in one component 👉 Now I break UI into small reusable components ❌ 2. JavaScript is single-threaded. But somehow it handles API calls, timers, promises, user clicks, and UI updates—all at the same time. That magic is called the Event Loop. Many frontend bugs are not caused by React. They happen because developers don’t fully understand how JavaScript handles async operations. Example: Promise callbacks run before setTimeout callbacks. That’s why this: console.log("Start"); setTimeout(() => console.log("Timeout"), 0); Promise.resolve().then(() => console.log("Promise")); console.log("End"); Output: Start End Promise Timeout Why? Because Promises go to the Microtask Queue, which gets priority over the Macrotask Queue like setTimeout. Understanding this helps with: ✔ Avoiding race conditions ✔ Writing better async code ✔ Debugging production issues faster ✔ Improving frontend performance ✔ Understanding React behavior better The Event Loop is not just an interview topic. ❓ Quick question: Everything works fine… until you move your variable inside a function or block 💥 Why does JavaScript behave like this? 🤔 👉 What’s actually going on here? 🚀 Let’s decode one of the most confusing JavaScript concepts: Scope (Global, Function, Block) 🌍 1. Global Scope (var, let, const) If a variable is declared outside everything → it becomes globally accessible ✔ Works everywhere: • inside { } • inside if • inside loops • inside functions 💡 That’s why this runs smoothly everywhere. 🧠 2. Function Scope Variables declared inside a function are locked 🔒 inside it. 👉 Outside = ❌ Not accessible 👉 Inside = ✅ Works perfectly 💡 Key Insight: Function creates its own private world 📦 3. Take a guess before scrolling… 👇 . . . . . . ✅ 𝗔𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿: undefined ReferenceError: Cannot access 'b' before initialization 💡 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 JavaScript behaves differently for var and let: 👉 var is hoisted and initialized with undefined 👉 let is also hoisted, BUT it stays in a “𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲” until the line where it’s defined So: • a exists → prints undefined • b exists but is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝘁 → throws error 🎯 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 • var → function scoped + can lead to unexpected bugs • let → block scoped + safer to use • Always prefer let & const in modern JavaScript 🔥 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁? 🚀 Day 6 of My MERN Stack Journey — Hands-On DOM: How I Built a Task Manager in Plain JS Today I moved beyond basics and built a dynamic Task Manager using JavaScript and DOM. What I learned: ✅ Arrays and objects for managing data ✅ .push(), .pop(), .map(), .filter() in real use ✅ DOM manipulation to display tasks ✅ Event handling using addEventListener ✅ Building a functional UI from scratch 💡 Biggest takeaway: Connecting JavaScript logic with the DOM made everything feel real. This is where frontend development actually starts making sense.
