Day 5 — Halfway through and React just entered the chat. Honestly, I was intimidated by React for a while. Everyone talks about it like it's a different planet. But today it clicked: React is just JavaScript with a smarter way to update the UI. That's it. Components are like LEGO blocks. Props are how they talk to each other. useState is how they remember things. Built a counter app (classic, I know) and then a profile card component. Small things but they felt real. The JSX confusion is real at first — it looks like HTML but behaves like JS. Give it an hour. You'll get used to it. ✨ 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟰 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 ⚛️🚀 Today I learned about the `𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁` 𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗸, and more importantly, 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁. While working with React, I noticed that components are mainly for rendering UI. But sometimes we need to do things outside rendering — like fetching data, setting up timers, or updating something after the UI changes. That’s where `𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁` comes in. It lets us handle these 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 in a clean and controlled way. What I found interesting is how it runs after render and can depend on specific values. Instead of mixing everything together, React separates 𝗨𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰 from 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀, which makes the code easier to understand and manage. Starting to see how React keeps things structured as apps grow 💻⚡ #ReactJS #JavaScript #WebDevelopment #LearningJourney #FrontendDevelopment

React taught me something no tutorial ever will… Users don’t care how complex your app is. They only care if it works smoothly. They won’t see: the state you managed across 5 components the Redux logic keeping everything in sync the hours spent fixing one tiny bug the edge cases you handled silently If everything works perfectly… 👉 they notice nothing. And that’s the goal. Because in frontend, a seamless UI is just hundreds of invisible problems solved. Not gonna lie — it can feel underrated sometimes. But there’s a different kind of satisfaction in knowing: You turned messy logic into something simple for the user. That’s real development. I removed useEffect from my code… and my app got faster ⚡ Yes, seriously. For a long time, I was doing this in React: useEffect(() => { fetchUsers(); }, []); Seemed correct… right? ❌ But in real projects, this caused: • Multiple unnecessary API calls • Data mismatch bugs • Hard-to-control logic 💡 Then I changed my approach: Instead of auto-calling APIs inside useEffect, 👉 I started triggering APIs based on user actions Example: • Search → onChange • Button → onClick ✅ Result: • Better control over API calls • Cleaner component logic • Improved performance (~30% fewer calls) 🔥 What I learned: useEffect is powerful… but overusing it makes your code messy. 💬 Curious: Do you still rely on useEffect for API calls? #ReactJS #FrontendDeveloper #JavaScript #CodingTips #WebDevelopment

Ever clicked two dropdowns and both stayed open at the same time? 😾 Looks unprofessional. Feels broken. Users hate it. Here is how I fixed it in React with just 2 lines : 👉 When Explore opens → force "Degree" dropdown to close onClick={() => { setIsExploreMenuOpen(!isExploreMenuOpen); setIsDegreeMenuOpen(false); // ← this one line does it }} 👉 When Degree opens → force "Explore" dropdown to close onClick={() => { setIsDegreeMenuOpen(!isDegreeMenuOpen); setIsExploreMenuOpen(false); // ← same idea }} The logic is simple: When you open something → explicitly close everything else. React does not do this automatically. You have to tell it exactly what to close. Small detail. Big difference in user experience. #react #nextjs #javascript #webdevelopment #tailwindcss #buildinpublic #frontenddevelopment

Day 14 - React.memo (Stop Unnecessary Re-renders) One of the biggest reasons React apps become slow is something most developers ignore: Unnecessary re-renders. Even when nothing changes, components keep re-rendering and that directly affects performance. That’s where React.memo helps. What React.memo does: • Prevents re-rendering when props don’t change • Improves performance in large applications • Helps optimize expensive components • Works using shallow comparison of props Simple idea: Without React.memo → Component re-renders every time parent renders With React.memo → Component re-renders only when props change When should you use it? • Large components • Lists with many items • Performance-critical UI parts • Components with expensive calculations Important note: Don’t use React.memo everywhere. Unnecessary memoization can actually hurt performance. Key takeaway: Optimization is not about using every tool it’s about using the right tool at the right place. Next, we’ll dive into useMemo and useCallback and how they help in real-world optimization. #Day14 #ReactJS #Performance #WebDevelopment #Frontend #JavaScript #Developers #Coding #LearningInPublic

🚀 Modern React Lifecycle — Simplified with Hooks Still thinking in terms of componentDidMount and componentDidUpdate? It’s time to upgrade your mental model. React today is all about a clean flow: Mount → Render → Commit → Effect → Cleanup → Re-render → Effect → Unmount 💡 Key shifts to understand: Rendering is pure — no side effects useEffect runs after the DOM is updated Cleanup keeps your app stable and leak-free Dependency arrays control when effects run Whether you're building scalable apps or preparing for senior-level interviews, mastering this flow changes how you write React forever. Take a minute to internalize it — your future self will thank you. #ReactJS #FrontendDevelopment #WebDevelopment #JavaScript #ReactHooks #SoftwareEngineering

🚀 Just Built: React State Visualizer As a frontend developer, one of the biggest challenges I faced was understanding how state actually flows and updates inside a React application. So I decided to build something to solve that problem 👇 🔍 React State Visualizer — a developer tool that helps you see what's happening inside your React app in real-time. ✨ Key Features: • Track "useState" changes live • Visualize state updates over time • Understand re-renders بسهولة • Beginner-friendly debugging experience Inspired by tools like Redux DevTools and React Developer Tools, but focused on simplicity and clarity. 💡 Goal: Make React state easier to understand, debug, and teach. This is just the MVP — planning to add more features soon: • Props flow tracking • useEffect visualization • Component tree graph • Time-travel debugging Would love your feedback and suggestions 🙌 #React #JavaScript #Frontend #WebDevelopment #OpenSource #DeveloperTools #LearningInPublic

I improved performance in my React app today 🚀 The problem: Slow loading and unnecessary re-renders. What I changed: • Implemented lazy loading (React.lazy) • Applied code splitting • Optimized API calls • Reduced unnecessary state updates Result: ⚡ Faster load time ⚡ Smoother user experience Lesson: Performance is not a feature. It’s a responsibility. What’s one performance trick you always use? #reactjs #performance #webdevelopment #javascript #frontenddeveloper

I'm constantly amazed at what an incredible time it is to be a programmer🤯 I still remember spending 2 hours debugging a single line of code just to realize I missed a dot. ONE dot. Fast forward to today: I just shipped a fully functional, dark-themed tech blog in just 2 days. We're talking Next.js 15, Sanity CMS, Three.js, TypeScript — a complete, production-ready web app. I know someone might read this and think, "I could generate that in an hour without knowing how to code." I definitely have some strong opinions on the "vibe coding" trend (which I’ll save for another post! 😉), but my main takeaway today is this: As developers, our only true limit right now is our imagination. We are evolving from solo artists writing every single note, into conductors directing a powerful orchestra. We still need humans to tackle the complex, impossible tasks—but the tools we have to execute our vision are phenomenal. Here is what I used to build it: Tech Stack: ⚡ Next.js 15+ 📝 Sanity CMS 🌐 Three.js 📘 TypeScript Check out the live project below! 👇 🔗 Live site: https://lnkd.in/du_FfdNE 🐙 GitHub: https://lnkd.in/di9T3DVf #SoftwareEngineering #WebDevelopment #Nextjs #AI #TypeScript #Threejs #TechJourney #CodingLife #BuildInPublic
