We're hiring Junior Software Engineers: https://lnkd.in/gXfiFNmD

This is a bit confusing. Are you saying in order to hire a junior developer they need to have all the knowledge and experience of an LLM? That's insane if so.

Are you better than a AI agent? Prove it. Are you you better than a calculator? Prove it. Better than autocorrect? Prove it. Can you out-process MS Word in your head? Prove it. We didn’t replace humans with calculators or word processors. We amplified them. Same with AI and agents.

It’s interesting reading these comments because I feel like the core message is being missed. Beating an agent isn't about doing its job; it's about making it do yours, perfectly. I can orchestrate AI to write every line of a project, but it requires holding the entire system architecture in my head to guide it. Without that human direction, an agent sits idle. We aren't competing with our tools. We maximize our output.

“Hiring rider: Faster than a horse? Prove it.”

Here's the play on this: 1. Hire the "junior engineer". 2. Have them setup an environment to interact with the agent. 3. extract all the knowledge from the employee in 3 months. 4. Give them notice and hire new people. 5. Rinse and repeat. In a year, for 300K, you've scanned in 4 half way competent employees completely. Pretty handy, and then you can make them (their AI version) work for free. The "prove it" is the "adversarial" part most people missed here, where it's a challenge to the human, but a statement they are building better than human agents and this is their capital spend for doing it.

Elliot Lindsey , apparently in the future, you’ll have to beat an agent? 😆 Clearly, on the surface, I strongly disagree…so I would not recommend applying to this company based purely on how they’ve worded their ad. More likely, in the future (and in large part, now), you’ll have to beat your competition in competently using the agent. Being better the agent at coding or algorithms is nonsensical. You are the problem solver. You are the thinker. You are always going to manage the nuance in the information and requirements better. Always. Regardless of the domain, this is how you are “better than the agent.”

Either I'm missing something or several others are. I love this posting. If I wanted to hire an average Dev, I would instead have an agent do average work, quite literally. If I wanted an all star, I wouldn't settle for an average Dev or for an agent scraping the average of all code
