Leveled up my Django skills — built a full CRUD Task Manager! After learning the fundamentals of Django ORM, I went on to create a fully functional Task Management Web App with User Authentication from scratch. 🛠️ Project Overview: A To-Do app where users can Register, Login, and manage their tasks — Create, Read, Update & Delete — with status tracking and deadline support. 📚 Key things I learned: ✅ Custom User Model using AbstractUser ✅ Django Authentication — Register / Login / Logout ✅ Full CRUD operations with Django ORM ✅ Task Status — Pending | InProgress | Completed ✅ Deadline tracking with DateField ✅ Protecting routes with login_required decorator ✅ Deploying with Gunicorn + WhiteNoise on Render 💡 Biggest takeaway: Django's built-in auth system is incredibly powerful — you can build a secure login system in just a few lines of code! 🌐 Live Demo: https://lnkd.in/gptAe9aC 🔗 GitHub: https://lnkd.in/gJju6nqP Every project teaches something new. Most developers underestimate how much damage “copy and paste coding” causes in the long run. It feels productive at first. You build fast. You see results. But when the system grows, everything starts breaking in places you did not plan for. I have been going back through Python and Django fundamentals with a different lens. Not just how to make things work, but why they work the way they do. The shift happens when you stop thinking in pages and start thinking in systems. A proper backend is not random files. It is a structured flow: User Request → Routing Layer → Business Logic → ORM Layer → Database Transactions → Response Handling If any layer is unclear, debugging becomes guesswork instead of engineering. This is where most developers struggle when moving from tutorials to real applications. Not because Django is hard, but because the structure was never learned properly. At Teklini Technologies, the focus is always the same. Build systems that are readable, maintainable, and predictable under growth. Speed comes after clarity. Not before it. If you are currently building with Django, take one project and refactor it with structure in mind. You will learn more in that process than in five new tutorials. Djule started as an experiment to make server-rendered UI in Python feel more modern without needing a heavy frontend framework. In just a week, it has gone from an early parser/runtime foundation to something that feels much more like a real language and developer workflow. For anyone who has not seen it before: 𝗗𝗷𝘂𝗹𝗲 is a new templating language built on top of Django. It lets you build more expressive, component-based UI while still keeping Django’s server-rendered architecture. 🚀 Exploring REST APIs with Django! Recently, I’ve been working with Django REST Framework (DRF) to build scalable and efficient APIs. It’s a powerful toolkit that simplifies backend development and makes it easier to connect applications with frontend systems. 🔹 What I learned: How to build RESTful APIs using Django Working with serializers to convert data into JSON Handling CRUD operations (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE) Using ViewSets and routers for cleaner code Implementing authentication for secure APIs 💡 One thing I really liked about DRF is its browsable API interface, which makes testing and debugging much easier. This experience helped me understand how modern web applications communicate between the frontend and backend. A few months ago, I started writing a tool to help me get a handle on some dependency issues in our 200-package monorepo. That tool is now open source: Dependicus is here! It gives you high-level visibility across all your dependencies, details about individual upgrade paths, and can create issue tracker tickets. Then you can assign those tickets to agents, who don't mind if there's a minor API change, or 5 packages need to be upgraded at once. Supports JS (all package managers), Go, Rust, Python, and Mise. A few days ago we quietly launched an open source project we have been building on the side. No ads. No paid promotion. No connections asked to share it. 10,000 PyPI downloads later & here's what we learned. The project is SynapseKit an async-native Python framework for LLM pipelines and RAG. Built it out of frustration with the async story in LangChain and LlamaIndex. Most frameworks advertise async support but wrap sync IO in thread pools underneath. For production services under real concurrent load, that distinction matters more than most people realize. The framework we wanted didn't exist. So we built it. What surprised us about the launch: → The downloads started before I posted anywhere. Developers found it through PyPI search. → The feedback was almost entirely technical & people asking about the DAG execution model, the async internals, edge cases in failure propagation. → Not a single "cool project!" comment. Engineers who need this know exactly what they need. That last point is the one I keep thinking about. The best open source projects don't find their audience. Their audience finds them —> because the problem is real and nothing else solves it properly. Still early.
