Express, Fastify, NestJS — production APIs running JavaScript at massive scale. -> Mobile apps: React Native uses JavaScript to build genuinely native mobile applications for iOS and Android from a single codebase. -> Desktop apps: Electron runs JavaScript on the desktop. VS Code, Slack, Figma, Discord — all built with JavaScript. -> Machine Learning: TensorFlow.js, Brain.js — machine learning directly in the browser and in Node, no Python environment required. One language poured into every cup. The practical consequence for developers is enormous. Learning JavaScript deeply does not lock you into one type of work. It will crash because you misunderstood how it actually works. --- Most developers say: “Node.js is single-threaded.” And then proceed to write code like it’s multi-threaded. That’s where things break. --- 👉 The real concept: Event Loop & Blocking Code Node.js runs on a single thread for JavaScript execution. Which means: One blocking operation = everything slows down. --- The mistake most beginners make: app.get('/report', (req, res) => { const data = heavyComputation(); // CPU intensive ❌ res.json(data); }); Looks fine.
