World models are starting to move the AI conversation beyond generation and toward simulation, causality, and operational control. On EDB's podcast, Dr. Seth Dobrin breaks down why that shift matters, especially as AI pushes further into robotics, autonomous systems, and enterprise environments where safe action matters as much as intelligent output. He also makes the enterprise case clearly: in many workflows, smaller domain-specific models may offer a more realistic path to ROI, governance, and control than endlessly scaling model size. Where did the idea of robots actually come from? It wasn't engineers, but science fiction writers. The word 'robot' itself, coined in a 1920 Czech play, even carries connotations of servitude. 🤖 This clip from Untangling Web3 delves into the fascinating, fictional origins of robotics. Peter, Alec and Jack discuss how early stories like 'R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots)' explored the concept of sentient machines created for labor, and the inevitable conflicts that arose—a narrative that has shaped our perception of AI and automation for decades. Understanding these foundational ideas helps us navigate the ethical and societal questions we face today as AI and robotics rapidly evolve. Curious about the future of AI and robotics? Watch the full episode to unravel more. 👉 Follow Untangling Web3 — the podcast that simplifies tomorrow’s tech, today. #Robotics #ScienceFiction #AI #FutureOfTech #Web3 #Automation

Our CRO Phil Martin recently shared his take on the biggest question facing Physical AI: the robots are impressive - but are they ready to work? The response has been overwhelming. And it's confirmed what we've been building toward. At Infinadeck, we've spent years mastering omnidirectional locomotion for humans in XR. That same expertise now powers something new: a scalable infrastructure layer for humanoid robot training and deployment readiness. The insight is simple. Walking is a critical capability, but we have the opportunity to deliver so much more. Engineered as a training and validation platform, the Infinadeck Portal enables a robot to show up already knowing the space, the tasks, the workflows, the team and fully capable of starting functional work from the moment it arrives. We call it "pre-experiencing their purpose." Our concept video shows what this looks like at scale: dozens of humanoid units simultaneously training in geo-synced digital twins of their real deployment environments on Infinadeck Portal omnidirectional treadmills. Every surface. Every obstacle. Every procedure. Learned before they ship. The humanoid race won't be won by who builds the best robot. It will be won by who makes Physical AI deployment-ready, at scale, fastest. That requires an infrastructure layer. We're building it. Watch the concept video below and let us know if you agree. #PhysicalAI #HumanoidRobots #Robotics #Infinadeck #SimToReal #PreExperiencePurpose [Link to Phil's post in comments]

Simulate or Die A recent conversation reinforced something I’ve been thinking about: the importance of simulation may be growing as autonomous systems get more sophisticated. The testing challenges associated with multi-system and collaborative autonomy are many, and it boils down to this: if you rely only on field testing, coverage becomes the constraint. Real-world tests are expensive, slow, and limited by safety, logistics, and time. Then this was brought up - something I hadn't thought about before: Most tactics and doctrine were built around human capabilities and limitations. As collaborative autonomy matures, teams need room to explore new concepts of operation; not just automate old ones. That means asking: * What tactics become possible now? * What roles should humans keep? * Where do teams of autonomous systems outperform traditional approaches? * How do we test trust, tempo, and coordination before deployment? In some domains, answering these questions too slowly is literally perilous. #Autonomy #Robotics #DefenseTech #Simulation #AI #TestAndEvaluation #HumanMachineTeaming
