Over the past few weeks I challenged myself to build a complete production-ready application from scratch and here's what I built and learned: Tech Stack: Backend: Node.js + Express.js with REST API design Database: MongoDB Atlas with Mongoose ODM Frontend: HTML5, CSS3 and Vanilla JavaScript AI Integration: Groq's LLaMA 3.1 model for personalized job advice DevOps: Docker containerization + CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions Key Features: Full CRUD operations with 5 REST API endpoints. AI powered Job Status Advisor which gives personalized advice based on company, role and application status. Real time dashboard with application statistics. Notion inspired responsive UI with color coded status badges. Automated testing and deployment on every code push. What I learned beyond just coding: Securing API keys using environment variables and .gitignore. Why you never bake secrets into Docker images. How CI/CD catches bugs before they reach production. The real difference between building something and shipping something. The biggest takeaway? Confidence doesn't come from knowing everything before you start, it comes from building through the uncertainty! This project took me from "I don't know if I can do this" to a fully containerized, AI powered, production ready application deployed with CI/CD pipelines. Building a Full-Stack Agentic Research Engine with .NET 9, React, and Ollama 🚀: I’ve officially kicked off Project 1—AI Research Engine that bridges the gap between local data and LLMs. As a Full-Stack Developer, my goal is to build a system that is not just smart, but also scalable and user-friendly. Today’s focus was the Backend Architecture. Here’s a look at my setup (see screenshot): 🔹 The .NET 9 Powerhouse: I'm using the .NET Dependency Injection (DI) container to manage my AI services. By registering SemanticKernelService and ChatService properly, I'm ensuring the application remains loosely coupled. Today it's Ollama; tomorrow I can switch to Azure OpenAI with zero friction. 🔹 The React Frontend: The UI is being built with React & Tailwind CSS. Why? Because handling real-time AI streaming responses and managing complex file upload states (PDFs/YouTube URLs) requires a robust frontend framework. 🔹 Privacy-First with Ollama: By running Llama 3.2 locally, I’m ensuring that no sensitive research data leaves the machine. Privacy is a feature, not an afterthought. There were moments I questioned if I was doing it right… but I kept going Behind every feature, there were hours of confusion, retries, and learning 👍 Introducing InsightFlow — a full stack data visualization platform designed to simulate how modern applications handle and present business data. Tech Stack: ⚛️ React.js 🟢 Node.js + Express 🗄️ MongoDB 📊 Chart.js 📌 Key Features: • Interactive dashboard with dynamic data • API-driven architecture • Clean and responsive UI • Real-time-like data updates • Structured backend for scalability Challenges along the way: • State management got messy At one point, my React state had more mood swings than me on a Monday morning 🙂 • Debugging took longer than expected Spent hours fixing an issue… turned out to be a small API route mistake. • Making data meaningful Displaying data is easy. Making it useful and intuitive took real effort. • Frontend ↔ Backend sync issues When everything works individually… but not together 😅 💡 What I learned: This wasn’t just about building an app — it was about building patience. Worked with RESTful API design using Node.js and Express, focusing on clean routing and modular backend structure. Gained hands-on experience with MongoDB for schema design and optimized CRUD operations. Strengthened skills in asynchronous data handling and seamless frontend–backend integration. Also improved debugging practices and implemented data visualization to present insights effectively. Not every day was productive, but every day taught me something. Behind every feature, there were hours of confusion, debugging, and small wins. This project wasn’t perfect — but it was progress.
