BrentwoodGO, the low-cost electric shuttle service serving 3,000 Brentwood residents each month, is facing a critical funding shortage that could shut it down entirely. Circuit Transit founder Alexander Esposito joined News 12 Long Island to discuss the service's uncertain future and what it would mean for the students, seniors, and working families who depend on it daily. BrentwoodGO operates 10 electric vehicles across Brentwood, offering rides anywhere in the hamlet for just $2.50 through an easy-to-use app. Since launching in fall 2024, the service has logged nearly 50,000 passenger trips, but without renewed state funding, it could cease operations imminently. Circuit Transit is actively exploring partnerships with Suffolk County, Islip Town, Suffolk County Community College, and local businesses to keep the service alive.

I believe we need to be concentrating on using the rail yards in the Revitalization Plan as an actual train station for GO. If we brought GO Train service directly to Uxbridge, we’d give over half our working population a fast, reliable, and sustainable alternative to driving. 55% of residents commute to work, and of those commuters, over 93% drive their personal vehicle. Even if just 25% of current drivers switched to the train, that’s: Hundreds fewer cars on the road daily. Thousands of litres of gasoline saved each week. A measurable drop in Uxbridge’s greenhouse gas emissions. And if adoption rates match those in other GO-connected towns, public transit’s share could jump from 0.6% to 20–30% within a few years.
