🚀 Starting your DevOps journey? Here's everything you need to know — in one post. I was confused about DevOps for months. Was it a tool? A team? A job title? Turns out — it's a culture + methodology that bridges the gap between developers and operations teams. And once I understood the lifecycle, everything clicked. Here's the DevOps lifecycle broken down simply 👇 Plan & Code Define features, write code, use Git/SVN for version control Build & Test Compile using Maven/Gradle, auto-test with Selenium or JUnit Continuous Integration Jenkins/Bamboo connects every stage automatically Deploy Containerize with Docker, configure with Puppet/Ansible Operate Manage live environments, ensure uptime and stability Monitor Track bugs and performance using Nagios/New Relic The magic? It's all automated. The CI/CD pipeline means code goes from a developer's laptop to production with zero manual handoff. No more "it works on my machine" drama between dev and ops. 😄 Key tools you'll encounter as a beginner: Git Jenkins Docker Selenium Puppet Ansible Nagios Kubernetes Maven If you're new to DevOps — save this post. You'll come back to it. 🔖 Which stage of the DevOps lifecycle are you currently learning? Drop it in the comments 👇 #DevOps #DevOpsBeginners #LearnDevOps #CI_CD #Jenkins #Docker #Kubernetes #GitOps #Ansible #ContinuousIntegration #ContinuousDeployment #TechCareers #SoftwareEngineering #CloudComputing #DevOpsCommunity #NewToDevOps #DevOpsLife #Automation #Infrastructure

Spent some time recently working on a DevOps project, and it really changed how I look at development and deployment. Before this, I mostly focused on writing code. But this project pushed me to think beyond that how code moves from development to production, how systems stay stable, and how automation can save hours of manual effort. During this project, I worked on: 🔹 Building a CI/CD pipeline to automate the workflow 🔹 Using Jenkins and Git for integration and version control 🔹 Containerizing applications with Docker 🔹 Setting up and testing deployments in a cloud environment 🔹 Troubleshooting errors and improving the pipeline step by step Not everything worked on the first try (actually, most things didn’t 😄), but that’s where the real learning happened. Debugging issues, fixing broken builds, and finally seeing everything run smoothly was genuinely satisfying. One key takeaway for me — DevOps is less about tools and more about creating efficient, reliable processes. This project gave me a clearer understanding of how real-world systems are built and managed, and I’m excited to keep building more. If you’re on a similar path, let’s connect and share ideas! #DevOps #CICD #Jenkins #Docker #Automation #CloudComputing #LearningJourney

How to become the happiest DevOps engineer you’ve ever met. Replace your messy scripts with a full service. I wrote about when this actually makes sense (and when it doesn’t)

My colleague Romi Hemo just dropped an article that is 50% pure gold value and 50% genuinely hilarious. A deep dive into our journey at HoneyBook, moving from messy Bash scripts to a robust deploy service using Go and Temporal 🚀 Easily the best thing I’ve read all week. Highly recommend consuming it with a pint of ice cream 🍨 😉 #DevOps #SRE #ArgoCD #Git #Go #Temporal #HoneybookEngineering

🚀 Day 18/30 – Automating CI/CD Pipelines with Jenkins ⚙️ Today, I implemented a complete CI workflow using Jenkins, moving one step closer to real-world DevOps practices. 💡 Instead of manual builds, I automated the entire process from code to artifact generation. 🔧 What I built: ✔ Set up Jenkins and configured a pipeline job ✔ Integrated a Maven-based Java project ✔ Created a Jenkinsfile (Pipeline as Code) ✔ Automated build stages: compile → test → package ✔ Generated deployable artifacts (JAR file) 📌 Key Concepts I Mastered: • CI/CD fundamentals (Continuous Integration & Delivery) • Pipeline as Code using Jenkinsfile • Build automation with Maven • Stage-based pipeline execution 💡 Why this matters: In modern DevOps, automation is everything. Jenkins pipelines ensure faster delivery, fewer errors, and consistent builds — making them a backbone of scalable systems. 📂 GitHub Repository: https://lnkd.in/gf5Q8qik 🎯 What’s next? ➡ Enhancing pipeline with Docker integration & deployment automation Step-by-step, building a complete End-to-End DevSecOps Pipeline 🚀 #DevOps #Jenkins #CICD #Automation #Maven #Docker #Kubernetes #AWS #BuildInPublic #LearningInPublic #TechCareers

DevOps Cheatsheet Every Engineer Should Know If you are working in DevOps or preparing for interviews, having a clear understanding of core tools and commands is very important. This cheatsheet gives a quick overview of the most used DevOps concepts and tools in real projects. DevOps Fundamentals DevOps is a combination of development and operations. The main goal is to automate processes and deliver applications faster and more reliably. Key areas include Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment, Infrastructure as Code, Monitoring, Version Control, Containers, Orchestration, and Pipelines. Version Control Tools like Git and GitHub help manage source code. You should know how to initialize a repository, clone projects, check status, commit changes, and push code to remote repositories. This is the base of any DevOps workflow. Containers Docker is used to package applications with all dependencies. You should know how to build images, run containers, list running containers, and access containers. Containers make applications portable and consistent. Orchestration Kubernetes helps manage containers at scale. You should understand how to deploy applications, check pod status, view logs, and manage configurations. It is widely used in production environments. CI/CD Pipelines Tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab CI help automate build, test, and deployment processes. You should understand how pipelines work and how code moves from development to production automatically. Infrastructure as Code Terraform and Ansible are used to automate infrastructure. Learn how to initialize projects, plan changes, apply configurations, and manage servers using playbooks. Monitoring and Logging Monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana help track system performance. Logging tools like ELK Stack help analyze logs and debug issues. This is critical for maintaining system health. Cloud Commands Cloud platforms like AWS and Azure provide CLI tools. You should know basic commands to configure accounts, list resources, and manage cloud services. Security and Secrets Security is very important in DevOps. Learn how to manage secrets using tools like Vault and cloud secret managers. Also understand key management systems. Quick Tip Do not just memorize commands. Practice them daily on Linux systems and cloud environments. Real understanding comes from hands-on experience. Conclusion This cheatsheet is a quick revision guide. If you master these tools and concepts, you will be well prepared for real-world DevOps projects and interviews. #DevOps #AWS #Docker #Kubernetes #Jenkins #Terraform #Ansible #Git #CI_CD #CloudComputing #Monitoring #Linux #Automation #CloudEngineer #TechCareers

Most times as programmers we worry a lot about the code, if it will work or not. The real engineering comes with making your software available to thousands and millions of users. I recently have been working with clients to deploy a product and then it dawned on me, the shiny services everyone throw around sometimes can be so cost intensive that your client will contemplate killing a project you have spent months working on. That moment hit like a bullet as you would have wasted time and resources on a project no one will use. Deploying a system in a cost effective manner is a lot of work on it own. Makes me respect Devops engineers more. When building the next best product, think of how you will deliver that service to multiple users.
