Introducing Andor: Open-Source AI Coding Agent for VS Code

Today, I published Andor on both the VS Code Marketplace and GitHub. And honestly, this one means a lot to me. Over the last month, I have not only been working on client projects, but also using my free time and learning time to push myself further as a developer. That journey led me to build Andor - an open-source AI coding agent as a VS Code extension, built with TypeScript. It can read and understand a codebase, write and modify files, run terminal commands, help with debugging, and support multi-step coding tasks directly inside VS Code. Right now, it is powered through Puter.js, which makes it possible to use it without the usual API-key setup. But this is only the beginning. I am actively updating it, and one of the directions I am taking next is to make it capable of working with API calls to different models, too, including both free and premium models. I want this project to grow into something really useful, flexible, and community-driven. And because it is open source, anyone is invited to: contribute, customize it, improve it, or even shape it into something that fits their own workflow and vision. I will share the GitHub link in the comments. This project also reflects something personal in my journey. For a long time, a big part of my professional work has been centered around Laravel, and that is still a stack I am deeply confident in and have grown strongly in because of the companies and roles I have worked in. But lately, I have been intentionally expanding my stack. And now, I am adding TypeScript to that journey in a much bigger way -- with the goal of making it one of my primary languages in the coming days. I feel like I am on the right track: learning, building, improving, and growing. If you are into open source, AI in development, VS Code extensions, or developer tools, I would genuinely love your thoughts, ideas, feedback, and contributions. And if you need help on a project, feel free to DM me on LinkedIn as well. Let’s discuss. Let’s build. Let’s grow and learn together. #OpenSource #TypeScript #VSCode #AIAgents #DeveloperTools #AIinDevelopment #Coding #SoftwareDevelopment #GitHub #BuildInPublic #WebDevelopment #Laravel #ai #openai #claude  #puter
