Day 9 of #100DaysOfCode: From 30% to 65% - A Reactime Native Update I just published our second Medium article highlighting Reactime Native, an open-source time-travel debugger for React Native developers. Our team launched the MVP last October. Since then, I've been heads down building out the browser UI, performance metrics, Redux architecture, a full Vitest testing suite, and WCAG 2.1 AA keyboard accessibility. Full Stack Development journey 🚀 Today’s session in the cohort was focused on getting started with 𝐓𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭, and it was a really interesting introduction. We began with an overview of 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐬 and 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬, and how they help make JavaScript code more structured and easier to understand. It was nice to see how adding types can help catch mistakes earlier and make the codebase more predictable. We also got introduced to 𝐙𝐨𝐝 for validation, which was new to me. It was interesting to see how we can define schemas and validate data more safely in applications. Towards the end of the session, we also started building a small 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐨 𝐚𝐩𝐩, just to see how these concepts fit into a real project. 🚀 Implementing API Integration with Redux Toolkit in an Industry-Level Project Today I successfully implemented API integration in my React application using Redux Toolkit. Instead of using traditional Redux patterns, I leveraged modern Redux Toolkit features to handle: 1. Asynchronous API calls 2. Loading & error state management 3. Clean and scalable state structure 4. Better performance and maintainability Using Redux Toolkit made the async workflow much more structured and easier to manage. The extraReducers approach helped in handling API lifecycle states (pending, fulfilled, rejected) efficiently. Built a complete Auth System from scratch using Node.js + Express + JWT + bcrypt + vanilla JS. Most React developers use Redux-Saga… but very few actually understand how it works. When I first used Redux-Saga, I was just copying patterns. takeLatest call put It worked. But I didn’t truly understand what was happening. Until I built a speech-to-text feature that was hitting an API every 3 seconds. And I started getting: • Duplicate API calls • Race conditions • Inconsistent UI updates That’s when I had to understand Saga properly. What Redux-Saga Actually Is Redux-Saga uses generator functions to control asynchronous flows. Instead of: “Do this → wait → then do this” It says: “Yield control → resume when ready” That’s powerful. What These Actually Do takeLatest() Listens for an action Cancels previous unfinished tasks Runs only the latest one Perfect for search & real-time APIs. call() Invokes async functions Makes testing easier Keeps side effects controlled put() Dispatches a Redux action Updates state after async success/failure What I Learned State management isn’t about libraries. It’s about: • Controlling flow • Avoiding race conditions • Thinking in side-effects • Structuring predictable async logic Once I understood this, debugging became 10x easier. Now when I build features, I don’t just “use Saga.” I design the flow first. If you’re using Redux-Saga, understand the control flow — not just the syntax. Mastery starts with the basics! I’ve just wrapped up a hands-on practice session building a Todo App using React and TypeScript. While it might seem like a simple project, the core logic behind it is what fuels complex, real-world applications. During this build, I focused on: State Management: Leveraging useState for dynamic data flow. Immutability: Mastering the Spread Operator [...] to handle state updates efficiently. Array Manipulation: Using .map() for rendering and .filter() to handle precise deletion logic. Type Safety: Integrating TypeScript to ensure robust data handling and catch errors during development. What's next? The logic for creating and deleting is solid, and I’m currently working on implementing a seamless Edit system to complete the full CRUD cycle! I believe that mastering these small building blocks is essential before scaling to enterprise-level projects. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single line of code.
