🚀 Day 4 of My JavaScript Learning Journey Today I learned about the building blocks of JavaScript code, which help the JavaScript engine understand and process programs. 📌 Key concepts I explored: • Tokens – The smallest units of code in the source text. • Keywords – Reserved words that have special meaning in JavaScript (like if, for, let, etc.). • Identifiers – User-defined names for variables, functions, or objects. • Literals – Fixed values written directly in the code (like "hello", 42, true). ⚙️ During the parsing phase, the JavaScript engine reads the source code and converts it into a sequence of tokens. These tokens help build the structure of the program and allow the engine to execute it correctly. Day 8 of My JavaScript Journey 🚀 Today, I started learning about functions in JavaScript. Functions are used to group and reuse code, making programs more organized and efficient. There are three types of functions: • Function declaration • Function expression • Arrow function Today, I focused on function declaration. Example: function greet(name) { return "Hello " + name; } One thing I noticed: Functions can feel a bit difficult at first, but they are a core part of JavaScript. So instead of rushing, I’m taking my time to truly understand how they work. Day 2 of My JavaScript Journey 🚀 Today, I learned about values and variables in JavaScript. Values are the most fundamental unit of information in programming. Everything in JavaScript is built around values; numbers, text, true/false, etc. Variables, on the other hand, are like containers (or boxes) used to store these values so they can be reused later in a program. For example: let age = 20; Here, "20" is the value, and "age" is the variable storing it. One simple way to understand it: Values = the data Variables = where the data is stored Key takeaway: Variables make it easier to manage and reuse data efficiently in your code. I explored how different types of functions shape the way we write reusable, efficient, and expressive code. 🔸 Practiced arrow functions for concise syntax and cleaner code. 🔸 Understood higher-order functions that take other functions as arguments or return them, making logic more powerful. 🔸 Worked with callbacks to handle asynchronous tasks step by step. 🔸 Explored recursive functions to solve problems by breaking them down into smaller, repeatable steps. 🔸 Learned about IIFE (Immediately Invoked Function Expressions) for creating isolated scopes. 🔸 Experimented with anonymous functions to keep code flexible and dynamic. 🌱 Reflection – Functions are the building blocks of JavaScript. 🚀 Day 15 of My JavaScript Learning Journey Today I explored one of the most important concepts in JavaScript — how it actually works behind the scenes! 🤯 Here’s what I learned 👇 🧠 JavaScript Engine & Single Thread Concept JavaScript runs on a single thread — meaning it executes one task at a time. But still, it feels fast… how? 👀 ⚙️ What Makes JS Synchronous By default, JavaScript executes code line by line (synchronously). We've been learning JavaScript, const, let, if/else, functions, objects, arrays… the works. Monday we hit Arrays and Objects and honestly? Half the class (myself included) left that session with our eyes turning up and down 👀 We went from our regular: console.log("your value"), simple, clean, no stress. To suddenly needing to access specific keys like: console.log(fruit[3]) console.log(person.name) Wahala! 😂 And don't even get me started on .shift() and .unshift(), you'd think shift means shift and unshift means return it back to its former state right? WRONG. JavaScript doesn't care about your logic 😂. The literal meaning is not always as it seems out here. It felt like a whole new language inside the language. So our tutor did something real instead of pushing forward, we repeated the class today to make sure everyone wasn't as confused as the last session before moving on. That's the kind of learning environment TechCrush is building. Nobody gets left behind. Day 1 🧠 Understanding Lexical Scoping in JavaScript (in 2 minutes) One concept that quietly powers a lot of JavaScript behavior is lexical scoping. 👉 Simply put: A function remembers where it was written, not where it is called. 🔍 Example: let name = "Global"; function print() { console.log(name); } function test() { let name = "Local"; print(); } test(); // Output: Global 💡 Even though print() is called inside test(), it still logs "Global". Why? Because print() was defined in the global scope, so it uses that scope. 🧠 Key Takeaways: Scope is determined at write time (lexical), not run time. JavaScript looks for variables in the scope chain upward. But recently, I learned about: 👉 Scope 👉 Closures 👉 Higher Order Functions (HOF) And things clicked differently. 💡 Here’s what changed my understanding: ✅ Scope It’s not just about variables — it’s about where your code can access data ✅ Closures -> This blew my mind 🤯 A function doesn’t just execute… It remembers the environment where it was created. 👉 Even after the outer function is gone. ✅ Higher Order Functions Functions in JavaScript are not just “callable” They are: ✔ Passed as arguments ✔ Returned from other functions ✔ Stored like values 💡 The biggest shift for me: 👉 “Functions are not just actions, they are values with memory.
