If you don’t understand what’s happening under the hood, you’ll always depend on tutorials instead of solving problems yourself. 💻 Frameworks make sense only when the foundation is strong. You can’t master Django if you don’t understand Python. You can’t use React effectively if JavaScript confuses you. ⚙️ Shortcuts slow you down in the long run. 🚀 Exploring Django Signals! I’ve recently been diving deep into Django Signals while building a mini StockLite POS project. For those who are new, Django Signals are a way to decouple code and respond to certain events in your application. They allow you to run code automatically when something happens - like saving, updating, or deleting a model instance. Here’s what I explored: - pre_save & post_save: Validating stock, auto-calculating total price, adjusting stock after a sale. - pre_delete & post_delete: Restoring stock, blocking deletion of old sales, logging deletion. - Custom signals: Triggering alerts when product stock hits zero. - Activity logging: Keeping track of all important events in a dedicated model. Through this hands-on project, I learned how to implement signals in real-world scenarios, maintain data integrity, and make my app event-driven.
