𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓(𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧) 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐧-𝐍𝐔𝐋𝐋 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬. At first, the difference feels small. In real data, it’s not. 💡𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬? In most datasets, missing values (NULLs) are common. When you use COUNT(column), SQL automatically ignores those NULLs. • You’re no longer counting rows. • You’re counting available values.
