GitHub, one of the most important platforms in coding, is making GPT-5.3-Codex its new base model for Copilot Business and Enterprise, and introducing GPT-5.3-Codex as the first Long Term Support (LTS) model for Copilot. It means GitHub customers are getting an automatic upgrade to a model built for serious software work, with stronger performance, a 12-month stability guarantee, and the kind of predictability and trust enterprises need. GPT-5.3-Codex is already the most-used OpenAI model among Copilot Business and Enterprise users. This move reflects an ask from developers who want the best model for the job. We’re excited to partner with GitHub to help bring better coding tools to enterprises around the world, and to make sure developers have access to the most capable models for their most important work.

Great to see this progress. I want to share my experience as a user: whenever I’ve used GPT‑5.3‑Codex on more complex projects, things often went off‑track or broke in unexpected ways. I know part of it comes from prompts and the complexity of my own codebase, but the experience can be frustrating. This isn’t a complaint, just honest feedback from real usage. I hope future updates bring more stability for large, messy, real‑world projects, because the potential is huge. Thanks in advance!

This is a really exciting move! Having GPT-5.3-Codex as the first Long Term Support model for Copilot Enterprise gives development teams the stability they need to plan around AI tooling without worrying about sudden model changes. The 12-month stability guarantee is exactly what enterprise customers have been asking for. Looking forward to seeing how this shapes the future of AI-assisted software development!
