GitHub 🐱 or GitLab 🦊? There are reasons to prefer one over the other. GitHub: clean ecosystem, massive community GitLab: integrated CI/CD, more “all-in-one” But let’s be honest. Most of the time, it comes down to what you used first. Or simply, which logo you like more. #Git #GitHub #GitLab #SoftwareEngineering #DevTools #DeveloperLife #ContinuousLearning #RotterdamTech

GitHub's new global pull requests dashboard just hit opt-out public preview. 🤔 This means a unified view will be ON by default for everyone! For dev teams, that could be a huge win for visibility and streamlining workflows. Just remember to opt out if it doesn't fit your current setup. Curious to see the adoption! #GitHub #DevTools

GitHub just rolled out a Rule insights dashboard and a unified filter bar! This is great for anyone managing repos with complex rule sets. Finally, a clearer view on how those rules are performing and easier filtering. Little quality-of-life updates like these make a big difference in daily dev work. #GitHub #DevTools

#100daysofdevopschallenge #day17 🚀 GitHub Integration: HTTPS vs SSH — Which one saves you time? If you're tired of entering credentials every time you push code, it's time to switch to SSH. 🔐 HTTPS: Secure but prompts for credentials every push 🗝️ SSH: One-time setup, seamless pushes thereafter 💡 Pro Tip: Always git pull before git push to avoid commit conflicts. If you forget? Use git reset --soft HEAD~1 to undo the last commit and sync properly. #devopsJourney #git #github #integration Frontlines EduTech (FLM)

GitHub was built for humans. Quithub is built for agents. We just dropped Git hosting inside Toolkode. Not a wrapper. Not a sync layer. A native, agent-first repo system. → Zero egress (Cloudflare edge) → Large files handled natively → Private by default → Works with standard git remotes (no lock-in) But the real shift isn’t hosting. It’s this: Your repos aren’t just code anymore. They’re active workspaces. Agents can: • plan inside them • modify them • deploy from them • collaborate across them All without leaving the environment. Git was version control. Quithub is execution. local://mythos → https://lnkd.in/gsdpcaEk

I thought GitHub Actions was just CI/CD. This book proved me wrong. "GitHub Actions in Action" shows you that GitHub Actions is a full automation engine — not just a pipeline tool. It's already used by millions of developers worldwide to automate any kind of manual task in engineering. And the best part? It doesn't just automate GitHub — it can automate the entire GitHub universe. If you've been sleeping on GitHub Actions, this book will wake you up. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to go deeper with GitHub and rethink how much they're spending on external tools. #github #cicd #distribution #softwareengineering

Just learned a pretty cool GitHub shortcut. When you’re inside any GitHub repo and press `>` on your keyboard, it instantly opens the repo in VS Code online. No cloning, no local setup, just a quick way to browse and edit code right in the browser. Small feature, but very useful. #github #shortcut #useful

Git vs. GitHub: They aren’t the same thing! 🚫 One of the most common points of confusion for new developers is the difference between Git and GitHub. While they work together, they serve very different purposes: 🔹 Git is the engine. It’s the local tool that tracks your changes and manages versions. 🔹 GitHub is the showroom. It’s the cloud-based platform where you host, share, and collaborate on those versions with the world. Think of it like this: Git is the document you're writing on your laptop, and GitHub is the Google Drive where you upload it to share with your team. Understanding this distinction is step one to mastering a modern dev workflow. 💻 #WebDevelopment #CodingBasics #Git #GitHub #SoftwareEngineering #TechTips

GitHub's COO just shared a pretty astonishing number: *1 billion* commits on GitHub in all of 2025. Right now: 275 million per week. At that pace, 2026 will produce 14x more commits than last year. But there's a second number. GitHub Actions went from 1 billion minutes per week in 2025 to 2.1 billion this week. CI/CD doubled. Tests, builds, deployments. 14x more code. 2x more validation. That gap is the most important number in software right now.
