Day 1 – Strengthening Core Java Problem Solving Today I practiced six conditional-logic problems in Java to improve clarity of thought and real-world decision making in code. Sharing one of them below — finding the roots of a quadratic equation using the discriminant (b² – 4ac). Key learnings: Used the discriminant to determine real, equal, or imaginary roots Applied an if–else–if chain to handle all possible cases cleanly Understood how mathematical logic translates directly into Java code Problem-solving reminder to myself: Good code comes from clear logic, not long syntax. I’ll share the remaining five problems in the comments for anyone who wants to explore the logic behind them. While trying out Java 25, one thing really stood out to me—not a flashy feature, but a subtle shift in how Java lets us begin a program. For years, starting Java meant memorizing this line before understanding anything else: public static void main(String[] args) Now, it can be as simple as: void main() { } This isn’t just syntax sugar. It’s a signal. ➡️ Java is reducing cognitive load ➡️ Java is becoming more beginner-friendly ➡️ Java is modernizing without breaking its foundation The language that once felt verbose is quietly becoming more expressive—without losing the reliability it’s known for. Day 17 of Mastering Backend 🔥 This is why Java 8 changed the way we write code. For a long time, we accepted extra structure as normal in Java. Even small logic needed more wrapping, more lines, more effort. Then Lambda expressions came. They didn’t change what Java can do. They changed how clearly we can write logic. One-line logic stayed one line. Functional interfaces became easy to use. Streams became easier to read. Java didn’t suddenly change. The way we expressed ideas did. Once this clicked for me, Java 8 stopped feeling like new syntax. It started feeling practical. Most developers don’t struggle with Lambdas. They struggle with letting go of the old way. Java 25 continues its steady evolution toward simplicity and approachability with Compact Source Files and Instance main Methods. What changed? You no longer need: • A public class declaration • A static main method • Boilerplate just to run a small program You can now write Java the way you think when experimenting, teaching, or scripting. Before public class Hello { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Hello Java"); } } Now (Java 25) void main() { System.out.println("Hello Java"); } Why this matters: • Faster prototyping and experimentation • Lower learning curve for beginners • Cleaner examples for documentation and demos • Java becomes more competitive for scripting-style use cases This does not replace traditional Java: • Production apps still use classes, packages, and static mains • This is an additional capability, not a breaking change The direction is clear: Java is reducing ceremony while keeping its strong typing and structure intact. 💡 I Got Stuck Understanding Local vs Instance Variables in Java I faced a simple but tricky confusion Week 3 of Learning Java At first glance, both local variable and an instance variable looked the same to me. But once I tested it with code, things became clear: Here’s the clarity I gained: Local variables------ Declared inside a method Exist only during method execution Must be initialized before use Not accessible outside the method Instance variables----- Declared inside a class but outside methods Belong to an object Automatically get default values Can be accessed by any non-static method of that class 👉 this.variableName always refers to the instance variable, not the local one. #Java #CoreJava #OopsConcepts #learnInPublic #BuildInPublic

Sharing a quick Java concept today final, finally, and finalize look almost the same, but they mean completely different things in Java — and this confuses a lot of learners. ▪️ final Used to restrict changes. A final variable can’t be changed, a final method can’t be overridden, and a final class can’t be inherited. ▪️ finally Used with try-catch. It always executes, whether an exception occurs or not. ▪️ finalize A method called by the Garbage Collector before an object is removed from memory. Easy way to remember: final → restriction finally → cleanup finalize → object cleanup Once I understood this clearly, Java exception handling and memory concepts made much more sense. #Java #CoreJava #JavaDeveloper #CodingJourney #StudentDeveloper

I came across something interesting from Java / Inside Java 👀.... Java is exploring a new concept called Carrier Classes ....... which can be seen as an evolution of records for data-centric programming... 👉 What we use today: record Point(int x, int y) {} This already helps reduce boilerplate by auto-generating constructors, getters, equals, hashCode, and toString. 👉What Java is experimenting with (preview / proposed idea): carrier Point(int x, int y) {} The goal is to make data classes even more powerful, especially for pattern matching and object deconstruction. Example of where Java is heading: if (obj instanceof Point(int x, int y)) { System.out.println("x = " + x + ", y = " + y); } As a Java enthusiast, it’s exciting to see how Java keeps evolving while still staying familiar....
