“Finding your style” is one of the most misunderstood ideas in photography. Style isn’t something you discover. It’s something you eliminate your way into. You remove what isn’t you. You stop copying what you bookmarked. You stop editing to impress other photographers. You stop adding drama that doesn’t belong in the frame. Restraint creates style. If I look at your last 12 images and they all look like different photographers shot them, you’re still experimenting and that’s fine. But don’t call it a style crisis. Call it what it is: You haven’t decided what you stand for visually. Before asking “what’s my style?” ask: What am I willing to repeat?

What clients see is the camera. What they don’t see is this. Editing is not about adding a preset and sending a gallery over. It’s about refinement, consistency and restraint. Every image is selected intentionally. Light is adjusted to feel natural. Brand colours are balanced. Distractions are removed. But authenticity is protected. Professional photography doesn’t end when the shutter clicks. That’s where expertise begins. You can hire the best photographer in town and throw money at the shoot. It won't matter. If your team isn't aligned before the first click, you're setting yourself up for wasted time and missed shots. I see it all the time. No one agrees who the images are for. No plan for where they'll actually show up. Zero clarity on what the photos should say about the brand. So even great photography falls flat. That's why I start every project the same way. Long before anyone steps in front of a camera. I get crystal clear on three things: - What story are we telling? - Who needs to see it? - Where are these images going to live? It's not about adding red tape. It's about eliminating surprises. Because when everyone's on the same page early, creative work gets easier. And every shot feels intentional and on brand. Everything else is just guesswork.

Photography Secrets: Position Beats Settings Every Time Most photographers try to fix problems with settings. But settings don’t move objects. You do. Move one step left and two objects separate. Lower the camera and the horizon drops out of someone’s head. Back up slightly and clutter compresses into the background instead of wrapping around your subject. That’s not tweaking a photo. That’s rebuilding it. Position changes relationships. Settings only change exposure. Next time something feels off, don’t touch the dial. Move your feet first.
