💡 The moment I started thinking like a backend developer: I stopped asking "Is my code correct?" And started asking 👉 "What could go wrong?" Now whenever I build something in Django, I think: → What if the user sends wrong data? → What if the API fails? → What if the database returns nothing? Earlier, I only focused on the happy path. Now I focus on edge cases. That one shift completely changed how I write backend code. Because real applications don't break on correct inputs… They break on the ones you didn't expect. I kept writing Django APIs… but something felt off. The code was working. Responses were coming. But if someone asked me: 👉 “What actually happens when a request hits your API?” …I didn’t have a clear answer. That bothered me. So I went back to basics. Not tutorials. Not copying code. Just understanding one simple flow: User → request → view → model → database → response And suddenly, things started clicking: Patient.objects.all() is not just a line of code… it’s a query hitting the database and returning structured data. request is not just a parameter… it’s literally everything the user is sending to your backend. GET, POST, PUT, DELETE are not just methods… they define how your system behaves. The biggest realization? 👉 I was focusing on “how to write code” 👉 instead of “how things actually work” Now I approach backend differently: I don’t start with code. I start with flow. Spent way too long debugging a 404 error in Django recently. I had this in my resumes/urls.py: path('resumes/', views.upload_resume) Which combined with the main urls.py prefix gave me /resumes/resumes/ The fix was just changing it to an empty string: path('', views.upload_resume) If you're learning Django, remember - include() joins the prefixes. Whatever you write in the main urls.py is already part of the URL. Your app's urls.py only defines what comes after. Day-123 📘 Python Full Stack Journey – Django CRUD (Create Operation) Today I started implementing CRUD operations in Django, beginning with the Create functionality by building an Employee Registration Form. 🚀 🎯 What I learned today: 🗄️ Model Creation Created an Employee model to store user data: Full Name Employee ID Phone Number Email ID 🌐 Form Creation (Manual HTML Form) Built a registration form using HTML Used: method="post" {% csrf_token %} for security Input validation with required attributes ⚙️ Handling Form Data in Views Captured user input using request.POST Created an object and saved data into the database: ob = Employee() ob.fullname = username ob.emp_id = empid ob.ph_no = phno ob.email_id = emailid ob.save() 🔗 Routing & Navigation Connected form via URL routing Added navigation link in base.html This session helped me understand how Django handles data creation from user input, a key part of real-world applications. A Python package to clean Django project junk and free space. Over time, my projects kept filling up with things I don’t actually need… __pycache__, .pyc files, logs, staticfiles, even old virtual environments. Cleaning them manually every time was just… annoying 😅 So I made something simple to handle it. 🧹 Django Cleaner It scans your folders, detects Django projects automatically, and removes all the unnecessary stuff safely — without touching your actual code. You just run: django-cleaner ~/Projects and it does the rest. What it handles: • Removes __pycache__ and .pyc files • Cleans logs and staticfiles • Optional removal of venv • Shows how much space you freed I kept it simple on purpose. No setup, no complexity — just something useful that works.
