Recently I was preparing for JavaScript and I stumbled upon a simple concept — but most people don’t know the key differences between var and let. Here’s a quick example: ` for (var i = 0; i < 3; i++) { setTimeout(() => console.log(i), 1000); } // Output: 3 3 3 ` ` for (let i = 0; i < 3; i++) { setTimeout(() => console.log(i), 1000); } // Output: 0 1 2 ` Key differences: Scope: var is function-scoped, let is block-scoped. Hoisting & Temporal Dead Zone: var is hoisted and initialized with undefined, let is hoisted but not initialized — accessing it before declaration throws a ReferenceError. A story about "over-engineering" which I wanted to share with you today I had to solve a medium-level #frontend problem of pinning and unpinning the items in the list. I approached the problem with these: ↳ Removing and adding selected items to top ↳ Creating duplicate array for original indexing operation ↳ Removing and adding deselected items to the original position After all, things were perfectly fine with the cost here: ↳ Took significant amount of time ↳ Few functionalities were not an expected behaviour The working turns out to a simple operation of ↳ Doing pinning toggle of the items only ↳ Maintaining another array with pinned items on top and unpinned below Learnings 1️⃣ Not everything is solved with over-engineering. 2️⃣ Go with the naive one first and then sophisticated one. Function Scope: Accessible only inside a function. Block Scope: (introduced with let & const) accessible only within { }. 🔹 2. Hoisting JavaScript moves declarations to the top of their scope before code execution. But remember — only declarations are hoisted, not initializations. That’s why var behaves differently than let and const. 🔹 3. TDZ (Temporal Dead Zone) The period between entering a scope and initializing a variable declared with let or const. When asynchronous actions occur, like setTimeout or fetch, they take place outside the main thread. Day 7 of #30DaysOfJavaScript: Solved the Function Composition Challenge! 🎉 Today's problem involved creating a function that composes an array of functions and applies them from right to left, just like mathematical function composition 𝑓(𝑔(ℎ(𝑥))) f(g(h(x))). Using JavaScript's reduceRight, I built a clean, efficient solution that handles composing any number of functions—even when the array is empty (returning the identity function). This challenge sharpened my understanding of higher-order functions and functional programming concepts. 🚀 Efficient Task Scheduling with JavaScript (LeetCode 621: Task Scheduler) Today I explored an interesting problem — scheduling tasks with cooldown periods efficiently. 🔹 Problem: Given a list of tasks (like ['A', 'A', 'A', 'B', 'B', 'B']) and a cooldown interval n, find the least number of intervals needed to finish all tasks without breaking the cooldown rule. 🔹 Key Idea: Count the frequency of each task. Sort to find the most frequent task. Use idle slots to manage cooldowns.
