Day 12/100 of my #100DaysOfCode journey. Today I worked on two very practical JavaScript concepts: • Error handling using try...catch • Working with JSON data (JSON.parse() and JSON.stringify()) To practice, I simulated an API response in JSON format and wrote code to safely handle possible errors while processing the data. One thing that stood out today: In automation testing, APIs and browser interactions don’t always behave as expected. Good error handling ensures that tests fail clearly and predictably, instead of breaking silently. Understanding JSON is also essential because most APIs communicate using JSON responses. Small concepts today → better debugging and more reliable automation later. Today I finally understood how JavaScript actually stores data in memory — and it changed the way I look at code. Earlier, I used to just write variables and functions without thinking much about what’s happening behind the scenes. But now it makes a lot more sense: Primitive values (like numbers, strings, booleans) are stored directly in memory Reference types (like arrays and objects) are stored differently — the variable holds a reference, not the actual value That’s why things like this behave unexpectedly sometimes: Copying objects doesn’t create a real copy Changing one reference can affect another Understanding this cleared up a lot of confusion I had while debugging. 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗩𝟴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 You spend your days working with JavaScript. But have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes? When you run your code, V8 - the JavaScript engine - takes over. It's not just a compiler, it's a performance expert. Here's how it works: - V8 reads your code as a stream of characters - It builds a blueprint, called the Abstract Syntax Tree (AST) - V8 is lazy, it only compiles what's needed right now - It uses an interpreter, called Ignition, to execute your code - Ignition creates bytecode, which is like stage directions for your code When your code runs, V8 watches and takes notes. It looks for hot paths - loops that run many times. When it finds them, it uses Sparkplug to compile them to machine code. If a function is super hot, V8 uses Maglev to create a baseline optimized version. And for the most critical code, V8 uses TurboFan, an optimizing compiler. To keep V8 happy, you need to write predictable code. This means using consistent types, small functions, and avoiding delete.
