In 2024, I encouraged my leaders to ensure that every team member include a learning objective in their annual goals. This could involve acquiring a new programming language, mastering a new technology or application, or obtaining a professional certification. At the end of the year, when I reviewed our performance (93% success rate, thanks to a rockstar team), I recalled a valuable lesson from my Dad: "never ask someone to do something you would not do yourself." With the support of Total Wine & More, I had the privilege of participating in the Wharton Executive Education CTO Program.
