We made our website accessible. But our PDFs? It’s a story we hear more often than you’d think. Teams spend months auditing web and mobile experiences—only to realize their PDFs are invisible to screen readers, lack document structure, or break keyboard navigation. And it matters: 📊 80%+ of PDFs are accessed on mobile 🧩 90%+ fail accessibility standards like WCAG 2.2 and PDF/UA-2 These documents carry real weight—reports, statements, and onboarding content—and yet, they’re often the most overlooked accessibility risk. So we built something new: 🎉 The PDF Scanner—now available in BrowserStack Accessibility. No installs. No complexity. Just drag, scan, fix, and share. Make your documents as accessible as your UIs. Try PDF Scanner now! 👉 https://lnkd.in/gPDXriKi #A11y #Accessibility #PDFScanner

While the article primarily focuses on documentation, the concepts and benefits discussed are applicable to a wide range of websites beyond just documentation sites. Although documentation is a common use case, the principles of static site generation, server-side rendering, incremental static regeneration, and edge functions can be leveraged to enhance the performance, scalability, and user experience of various types of websites. The insights provided in the article can be valuable for developers and organizations seeking to optimize their web sites, regardless of the specific content or purpose of the site. https://leerob.com/docs

In the process of improve core web vitals scores for my friend's website, I decided I wanted greater control over image compression than I could get through NuxtImage in conjunction with my hosting platform's provider. I also wanted to do this ahead of time which in theory could improve performance as this would never need to be done on-demand, and would allow me to opt out of an additional pay-as-you go service. So, over the past day or two, I whipped up this Electron app that allows me to specify sizes or densities for an image, configure output formats, etc and then generate resized/compressed images. It also creates a picture tag with the srcset (and sizes property when using widths mode) and adds it to the clipboard so I can just paste it directly into my code. Despite whipping this up quickly, none of this was "vibe-coded" :) In the screencast, you will see me resizing an image using both modes, adjusting compression settings such as "effort", and pasting in the picture tags it created :) The resulting images are crystal-clean and Lighthouse no longer complains about image size savings, yay!

The Core Web Vitals are a set of metrics from Google that measure real-world user experience for key aspects of a webpage: loading performance, interactivity, and visual stability The Core Web Vitals currently consist of the following three metrics: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): Measures loading performance. It is the time it takes for the largest content element (like a main image, video poster, or large block of text) on your page to become visible to the user. Goal: LCP should occur within 2.5 seconds of when the page first starts loading. Interaction to Next Paint (INP): Measures interactivity/responsiveness. It assesses the time it takes from when a user first interacts with the page (e.g., a click, tap, or key press) to when the browser is able to paint the next visual update in response to that interaction. INP has replaced the older metric, First Input Delay (FID). Goal: INP should be 200 milliseconds or less. Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): Measures visual stability. It quantifies the sum total of all unexpected layout shifts that occur during the entire lifespan of the page, which can be jarring when content moves around while the user is trying to read or click something. Goal: CLS should be 0.1 or less
