Today, at #FabCon, we are releasing #GitHub #Copilot #CLI Skills for Microsoft Fabric, a set of extensions that let you work with Fabric, directly from the amazing GitHub Copilot CLI application (also from VS Code or Claude Code, for that matter), using natural language, but grounded in best practices for using Fabric primitives and APIs. With this set of skills, you can develop complex analytics architectures (such as Medallion), create Real Time Intelligence solutions to monitor your business events as they happen. These skills allow you to query our engines (Power BI, DW, Eventhouse) using natural language, so you can also use GitHub Copilot CLI as a researcher, reasoning over various sources of data and producing rich reports (PDF, or Word/PPT documents) based on its findings. I contributed directly to this work, and I’ve genuinely enjoyed it, so I have to warn you that GitHub Copilot CLI may be addictive! There’s something deeply satisfying about using a CLI to build CLI skills that make a complex platform, like Fabric, feel simpler and more direct. I will post more about my experience with CLI later, meanwhile enjoy this new package: https://lnkd.in/gQbY7_fH

Well done! I know how hard and how invested you were in this project actually building it with your own hands. I also got addicted to contributing to this project myself. Congratulations!

This is a great example of where AI actually changes how work gets done, not just how fast. Bringing Fabric into a CLI + natural language interface lowers the friction to explore, build, and iterate especially for complex architectures that usually require deep platform knowledge. Also love the “grounded in best practices” angle. That’s the difference between demos and something teams can actually rely on. Feels like a step toward making advanced data workflows far more accessible and a lot more fun to build.

Love to hear this. I enjoy working in Github Copilot CLI

Loving this, I had created my own Fabric-skill for Github Copilot CLI and it was great for development. But this is in whole new level, awesome things that will truly make things way easier 👏

GitHub Copilot CLI is the most addictive tech I've used since social media, with the upside that I actually feel great when I'm done building something.

Two weeks ago I have experimented with my own skills too. But now I have updated my team of agents and the creator now knows Fabric! My architect formulates an agnostic architecture that the modeler translates into a target model for Fabric and the creator will implement the model. As easy as that. This is real awesome stuff! It accelerates my work by factors!

This is exactly what we and our agents needed! Haven't seen all that's come through yet, but this has already made my day! Can't wait to dig in!
